I bought this last year before I got married as I didn't want to be super pale for my wedding day but at the same time I knew that I couldn't rely on the british weather to give myself a natural tan. I had thought about self tanning with sprays or sunbeds etc but I feared the side effects and streaks and just couldn't take that risk so instead hunted for something which would be a little more subtle so if any streaks did occur I wouldn't really notice! I came across Fake Bake as they have quite a few products aimed towards re-creating a tan look and chose this particular one as it seemed to be the most subtle. Fake Bake

Advantages: Streak-free, nice colour - not orange
Disadvantages: Time consuming, needs to be reapplied for darker colour

I've always been happy using my usual L'Oreal tan, but since coming onto Ciao I have become curious about Fake Bake, after reading a few positive and negative reviews I decided to buy it and see for myself. I was shocked to find it is sold for around £25 for a 170ml bottle. But I had a search on the internet and found it at cheapest for £15 from an online tanning shop which is doing an offer. Packaging The tan comes in a dark brown bottle with gold writing. The bottle is nice but not as exciting looking as I expected from an expensive brand. There is a detailed explanation on the back of the bottle on how to use the tan. It advises you to exfoliate and moisturise right before using the tan, to always use gloves when applying, then to allow it to dry for 20 minutes before dressing or going to bed. Review of Fake Bake Self Tanning Lotion

I love fake bake

Advantages: gorgeous colour, easy to apply, lasts ages, even tanning
Disadvantages: quite expensive, colours sheets

tan it was quite difficult to apply the product evenly as it didn't always spray out of the bottle in a constant stream. However I really liked the colour that I got from the airbrush tan because it wasn't the orange or yellow colour that many of the cheaper tans create. It was also good because the tan has an indicator brown colour so that you know how the tan will look while you are applying it, rather than hours later. Once I had finished with the airbrush bottle I decided that it was slightly too difficult to apply and therefore decided I would test some more brands to see the result I gained. I tried the St Tropez spray on tan and again I felt that I turned a rather unattractive colour. So I was back to fake bake but this time I decided to buy the lotion as opposed to the spray.
