Advantages: Easy to read, Disadvantages: somewhat predictable
Meet Maddy Harvey. She was once an ugly duckling now shes a swan. Even Swans have familys.
Maddys mum died when Maddy was a toddler her father met and remarried Marcella. Maddy could not have asked for a better "mum".
Tradgedy struck the family again when Maddys sister April was run over by Den McKinnon. It was suggested in court that Aprils cerebal palsy had contributed to the accident. For Aprils life Den got two years. These where dark days ... ...had been heard to say "it wasn't as if they lost a normal child".
So it really is sods law that Maddy falls for a Mckinnon "scum". In the form of Dens brother Kerr.
Will Marcella find out? You bet she will!
I won't say any more as it would spoil the story.
There are many sub stories as well that i feel keep this book going. Although this book is ultimatly predictable there are enough twists and turns to keep you intrested. If your a fan of the ...

Maddy Harvey was a bit of an ugly duckling as a teenager, what with her N.H.S specs, unfortunate hair and wonky teeth. Thankfully she's blossomed since then.
But when she meets Ken Mckinnon one starry summer's night and discovers, days later, who he actually is.. well that;s when the problems really start. Because everyone at Ashbombe knows what happened 11 years ago, and as far as her mother's concerned, marcella would rather tear that family to ... ...a Mckinnon. It's Romeo and Juliet all over again, quick hide those sharp knives and that little bottle of poison....
A funny, engaging and poignant read.
This is Jills Latest book printed only this year (2004). I found it a brilliant read and couldn't put it down. The writing style is just the same asher others and there are many characters and the begining of the book and new ones pop in to the world half way through as well. I would recommend ...

Advantages: Very easy to read, with a great story line. keeps you wanting more. excellent read! Disadvantages: very similar to other books written by the author but that's why i like these books.
Another fantastic read by Jill Mansell, I got so stuck into this book I could picture every Character in great detail. The people, the places and all that was going on. I read this book in 4 days unable to put it down but not wanting it to end and when it did end well I think there should be a sequal. I have read all of Jill Mansell's books and this is deffinatly a favourite! I was willing for everything to work out for Kerr and I reall y grew to ...

Advantages: An enjoyable light read Disadvantages: none!
...I have read many books by JillMansell and I have to say that I would rate 'Making Your Mind Up', which is her latest one, as one of her best. If you are not familiar with JillMansell, I think I would say that her novels fall into the category of 'chic lit' although I'm never quite sure exactly what that is! My own definition tends to be light modern fiction.
Well JillMansell seems incredibly good at this and all her novels are very accessible and easy to read. I think that one of the most important things that influence whether you enjoy the book are the characters - you have to like them and you have to care what happens to them (and I would say this is the same whether you are reading the greatest classic or the latest chic lit). I definitely liked most of the characters in this book.
The plot also has to be believable...
