Review of Dangermouse Collection DVD by
Tempus_Fugit
Advantages: contains every episode ever made, over 20 hours of DangerMouse and Penfold
Disadvantages: lack of decent extras, episodes not in chronological order
...Mouse DANGER MOUSE
DangerMouse is 25 years old this year. And what are they going to do about it? Cosgrove-Hall and Fremantle Media are swamping the market with DVDs celebrating the fact. There are 7 DVDs out there with up to 9 episodes on each or you can go for the jugular and invest in the Anniversary Box set that proudly announces all 161 episodes ever made on 12 DVDs plus some extras. I will come back to that claim again a little later.
Packaged ... ...DVD has a picture of DangerMouse or one of the characters printed on as well as the episodes contained on that particular DVD.

FIREBALL XL5 - Blast from the Past.
Review of Fireball XL5 - The Complete Series (Box Set) by
Maximus-Qualitus
Advantages: Nothing offensive
Disadvantages: None
Fireball XL5
I had vague memories of this from when I was a child (I was born 1964) and so I guess must have watched repeats but watching the DVDs brought the series back clearly.
Fireball XL5 was the fore runner of Stingray, Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds.
This was on tv in 1962, and Contained 39 episode.
Synopsis:
Set one hundred years into the future, it is the year 2063, and the 300ft spaceship, fireball XL5 is out in space protecting ... ...of the lazoon race.
Fireball XL5 had living quarters for the crew with an ultra-modernistic lounge, observation window, a laboratory for research and an astroscope, which the crew would use to see in any conditions. The XL5 had a nose cone called fireball junior, which detached itself from the main part of the rocket and was able to make planetary landings whilst fireball itself remained in orbit.
Other equipment included, air cushioned jetmobiles ...

jamiemazza
Advantages: Fun,entertainment, re watch again and again. bous disc
Disadvantages: None
...the genre of the film Aladdin help it appeal to a wide audiences and not just children.
Walt Disney, one of the best companies in family entertainment produced Aladdin. It has produced lots animated films , including Bambi (1942), The Jungle Book (1967), and The Lion King (1994). Also produced or co produced a lot of live-action films, ranging from Mary Poppins (1964) to Pulp Fiction (1994) which was made by Miramax (their subsidiary company). I ... ...genre do this in Aladdin? Aladdin is the archetypal battle between good and evil with a twist, the genie and this is one of the reasons I love Aladdin. Aladdin meets the narrative theory of Propp, as it is a fairy tale, that there are 8 character roles and 31 functions that move the story on. You can see some of this in the sequence I have chosen in my sequence there is the 'princess' (Jasmine) the 'hero' (Aladdin) and The 'helper' (Genie and the ...

Review of Terrahawks (Box Set) by
SnakePlissken
Advantages: colourful, fun, memorable, comes with a message
Disadvantages: not so well thought out plots, very hackneyed
...count upon the good old Terrahawks to protect them from Zelda's powers. The Terrahawks are a secret elite space military group in a hidden location on the coast of Brazil (fortunately Zelda doesn't know their location), much like the Thunderbirds they are equipped with all the goods of military hardware and space vehicles and an army of spherical droids- the Zeroids, who can bounce, go into combat and fire inbuilt lasers, increase their weight for ... ...supreme commander. The Terrahawks make up only a small group in terms of manpower though.... There is Lt Hiro- the Asian character who sits alone on the space station ready to fire the nukes if any of Zelda's ships should try to approach Earth. With a fondness for botany (since there's no-one else to talk to) and an oh-so 'funny' and politically incorrect mispronunciation of words. Lt Hawkeye and Capt Kate Kestrel who provide the arial fighter backup ...

Cosy, calm, and comforting
Review of The Chronicles Of Narnia (Collector's Edition) by
pixywix
Advantages: Reminds you of childhood sunday afternoons and battenburg cake
Disadvantages: The special effects haven't aged well!
...who remember this BBC series the first time around, watching it again can be a terrifying reminder of how much we have grown up! The Chronicles of Narnia is a great story for people of any age, and even fairly young children will fail to find much that scares them in this gentle tale. It is based on the series of books by C.S. Lewis about children who enter a different world (Narnia) and their various escapades fighting evil villains, finding lost ... ...allegory, but this means that the goodies always win in the end (and the baddies often resemble a sock puppet or a drag queen). While seven books were written, only four of them were made into television programmes, and these four are all in the box set, along with an extras disc.
The costumes are fun, and just playing 'spot the hedgehog' kept some of my friends amused for quite some time! The special effects, which were considered cutting edge ...
