Harry Potter is WIZARD!
Advantages: Detail, Readability Disadvantages: None
Incredibly well-written. One of my most favourite books of all time, I have read it about 20 times to date and it's so gripping I first finished it in 5 hours. J.K. Rowling has a special ability in transporting you into their world and making you part of every experience. She includes lots of detail and emotions and original ideas.
In my opinion, it makes you wish that it would last forever. You don't want it to end because the action is so powerful, ... ...sticks to the common conept of magic - with wands and spells and potions etc. - but also includes a lot of original concepts such as schools, quidditch, and Lord Voldemort.
It gives you the right amount of information throughout the story to make you understand the ending and the overall concepts of the story.
Well-paced, well-written and 'well-good' ...

A refreshing slant on the classic fantasy/magic orphan novel
Advantages: An interesting angle on the classic orphan magician/fantasy novel Disadvantages: Might be more for children but a good read never the less
...which is always locked in the early middle ages in Europe, usually an early technology age with no gunpowder, usually the story centres around a young child who somewhere near the start of the novel discovers a strange power which then is placed under the tutelage of a mage or wizard etc etc. This book very firmly follows these prinicples, the main character is a young girl called sonea who lives in the slums of a city called Imardin, Imardin is ... ...Sonea throws a rock at the magicians and penetrates the magicians defences hitting one of the magicians and cuasing the wall to collapse. Sonea then escapes and the rest of the book is a tale of her hiding from the evil magicians in the cities underworld, catacombs, warrens whatever you want to call them. As with standard fantasy, Sonea soon develops her powers and after a few mistakes starts to become more powerful, the magicians are the ones who ...

Rowling's Finest
Advantages: Good character detail and action sequences. Disadvantages: Can drag on, also noticed some mistakes in the text.
Having read all the Harry Potter books except the last, I've found no. 4, 'The Goblet Of Fire' to be J.K.Rowling's greatest write so far. Gripping action blends with a well thought out, inventive story-line to create a truely epic novel. Heres an eye into Harry Potter's general story-line, though I know most people have read a book or seen a film already... Harry was an ordinary kid, living an ordinary life until one day he discovered his true meaning... ... ...of the record breaking series, Harry is mysteriously entered into the tri-wizzard tournament, in which he and several students from two other wizzarding schools must compete for the tournament cup. fire-breathing dragons and deep, lake murmades are described in some of the tournaments great challenges. Death doesn't escape this novel easily. From this point on the series becomes considerably darker, breaking from the child set genre it origionally ...

Nostalgic story by Anthony Horowitz
Advantages: Inculcates imaginative and creativity in children. Disadvantages: An imitation of Dan Brown's style of turning allies to enemies
...The Power of Five - Evil Star is the second book in this series by Horowitz, who has set the book in our world in this time, unlike a lot of other books of this type that rely on you believing in other planets or time dimensions. There are traitors and thieves at every turn and Matt ends up alone in Peru with no passport and no one he can trust
I recommend this book to people over the age of ten because I feel it is too advanced for young readers ...

The complete Chronicles of Conan
Advantages: A great introduction to Conan Disadvantages: Can be hard to find the paperbeck editions
...this book. I thought the presentation was excellent i.e. the black cover with gold lettering. The size and weight of the book gives a value for money feel. Any fan/collector of Conan must count this book as a must have, if you are new to Conan then there cannot be any better starter book. The author adds a brilliant reality to the stories through his creation of a non historical time in which Conan bursts out of the pages. The author, Robert Ervin ... ...most enduring. There have been many fine authors take up the reins of Conan and to their credit do a fine job. The paperback series is quite old and can be hard to find but for a true fan the pleasure is in the hunt. Enjoy !!! ...
