Great for the wee'uns is J.K Rowlings Harry Potter

Advantages: Good Story, Easy to read.
Disadvantages: Too young, badly written, cliched, full of broken metaphors, not as captivating as it was.

Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone was first read by myself when i was about 10 years old, and to be honest i loved it! It was new and exciting, full of magic and enthusiasm, i even wished that on my own 11th birthday i would receive a letter, even though i knew it wasn't real. However, now that I am 16, i feel that Harry Potter books have somewhat lost the edge they used to have. The writing is too easy to follow and it fails to keep me captivated ...
...mean no offence, the writing is not that good, it is repetitive and cliched. The story itself is fantastic and a work of genius, this is shown by the films, however the books are rubbish. I find that as the books went a long they di appeal more to the older teenager. But the Philosophers Stonme, is now, too boring. So, although the book is very good for younger people, the writing is rubbish. Story would get a thumbs up but on the literary point ...

The Culminating Point

Advantages: FANTASTIC
Disadvantages: None

...made with impatience and longing. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is quite simply, the climax of the building up and tension that were being built up by the six previous books. I would rather describe this closing book to the series as being an explosion of previous events. It certainly does carry elements that the readers would not have been able to even attempt a guess at. Being an avid fan of the series, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and ...
...not considered as Pure-Bloods. Will Harry finally manage to fulfill his destiny as the Chosen One or will the prophecy ensure as one will die while the other lives? And how many deaths are there going to be along the way? I would like to apologize for a rather short plot description (especially when the book is so huge in comparison!), but if I say anything more than that, I will just end up handing spoilers over! I think that this in itself clearly ...

Lord Of The Rings the first, book one

Advantages: once you get the boring stuff out of the way, the book is good
Disadvantages: too much description

...am going to talk about the very first lord of the rings book, The fellowship of the ring part one. This book, has a great deal of adventure in, and doesn't lack in description. If anyone has read this book, im sure they would agree that this book may have a bit tooo much description in. Description is good, but when you get too explaining every blade of grass to the last detail you may get bored. Even though i wanted to quit reading it so bad, i ...
...loads of interesting characters on the way including, Tom who is like the god of all land, sea and sky in the area were he lives. And tom one day stumbles across the poor hobbits in a spot of bother and helps them out. You also come across the great Gandalf the Grey. You don't see much of him in this book, but what you dont realise is that he has been very close all along. And finally you meet the enemy, the black riders. Lifeless riders who rule ...

Guess who's back in the magical world...

Advantages: Very interesting plotline, longer than the previous novels
Disadvantages: None that I can think of - maybe that I don't recommend buying the paperback copy!

...read or even heard of Harry Potter (I really don't know why; maybe I was too young, I was around eleven at that time), however the attractive cover immediately caught my eye and I managed to convince my brother to persuade our mum and dad to buy it for us. The novel immediately captured all my attention, and I had read more than half the novel on the journey back home. Goblet of Fire is the first book that I read in the Harry Potter series, and the ...
...and two hundred miles away, Harry wakes up, with his distinctive forehead scar in pain. After a disastrous meeting between the Dursleys and the Weasleys (at Privet Drive), Harry attends to the Quidditch World Cup Final between Bulgaria and Ireland. The plot quickly turns sinister when the night celebrations after the match are disturbed by the presence of the Dark Eaters, signalling the return of Lord Voldemort. The wizarding world is immediately ...

An anthology that's worth a read!

Advantages: a really good little collection!
Disadvantages: some stories can be considered confusing

This book I got off Bookcrossing.com where the site's ideal plan is to turn the whole world into a library. I asked to be put into this bookring for this book, and I'm very glad I asked. The author is Neil Gaiman. Who is quite famous for a number of books, such as: Stardust and Neverwhere. I have currently read a few books by Neil Gaiman and I have fully enjoyed them, and now I have a few more coming to me thanks to bookcrossing.com There is quite ...
...I decided to get a note pad while reading each of the stories, so that when I finished each of those stories, I could write a short review of each of them, well this is what I thought (considering they are only short stories, I shall not be telling you much (if anything) about them): ~The Wedding Gift~ This is found in the introduction so you should read it! I really enjoyed this story, with the little twist, it was very good! ~Chivalry~ I didn't ...
