...i would enjoy it after the first few pages - not because the pages would not hold my intrest but because Hobb went out on a limb and did somthing that is still a rareity in the fantasy world, she wrote this as a narrative of sorts. with all the events that you read about having happened already and the narrator is recapping the events of his life.
