A Happy Ending?
Advantages: Emotionally satisfying Disadvantages: Not a good introduction to the series
...to know what happens to Acheron then you should definitely read this book.
To be honest, if like me, you have read all of the other Dark Hunter novels, then this is a must read. If you haven't read them but are a fan of Kelley Armstrong, Charlaine Harris or Kat Richardson, then these are a fun addition to the paranormal romance genre! ...

Book of Fairytales But not for Children!
Advantages: Great selection of short stories from around the world Disadvantages: Can be a bit Gory
Angela Carter's book of fairytales is an interesting mix of stories from around the globe including Europe, Africa, Asia, and America and provides an interesting insight into the social systems or beliefs of the times. However these are not the happily ever after children's versions that we are may be more used to, but tales with a much darker side. These tales are definitely not for children as some of the tales can be either risqué or quite gory ... ...of Virago Books on how Angela Carter brought this book together, and this is followed by an Introduction by Angela Carter on the development of fairytales. At the end of the book there is an Afterword by Marina Warner covering how Angela Carter's interest in writing and fairytales began. This is followed by Notes on each tales origin and some interesting snippets. Then followed finally by the acknowledgments.
The book is divided into 13 sections ...

God my brother is a sod!
Advantages: Stylish writing, exciting, imaginative ideas. Disadvantages: Takes an age to get going. Disjointed reading.
...a God?
Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys is a jaunty outing with just the faintest tinge of horror about it. Gaiman's writing is fundamentally dark in its nature and he seems to love to take the "average Joe" and make horrendous things happen to him. Gaiman excels at creating pathetic but likeable heroes and Fat Charlie certainly fits the bill in this respect. The contrast between his apathetic approach to life and that of his exuberant brother, Spider, ... ...narrative lacks cohesion. This makes Anansi Boys a disjointed read that I sometimes found myself struggling to follow. Parts of this book are an exercise in perfectly written escapist literature. Gaiman's unique use of animal Gods is inspired in terms of imagery. You can visualise the scheming characters Gaiman creates and by giving the Gods a degree of desperate humanity you can well imagine the motives of the greedy Tiger and menacing Bird. Unfortunately, ...

Scuba wants to find Atlantis
Advantages: decent read Disadvantages: not the best
...draw comparisons with Clive Cusslers, Atlantis Found, there are two main leads one of whom is a technical buff, the men seem to be one caucasian and the other darker skinned (in Cusslers books Al Giordino is latino, while Costas seems to have Greek ancestry), both refer regularly to favourite drinks, in this it is gin and tonic in Cusslers work it is tequila. These things seem also to define the characters in Atlantis as British, though I dont remember ... ...Found this feels more overtly American since is a more typically American trait to drink Tequila. The descriptions of the underwater scenes and use of technology feels for the most part fairly realistic even if the coincidences that help the plot fit together pretty huge. The scientific knowledge feels reasonably accurate allowing for a few occasions when it may not be strictly accurate. The way this is written is fast paced and easy to follow, there ...

This book is amazing!
Advantages: Wraps up the trilogy perfectly! Disadvantages: Why did it have to end!
...without being to teasing! It's a direct pick up from the last book, so there's no 'what happened in between', its just BANG, straight into the action! The action is gripping, and the author creates such beautiful and terrible scenes, you just sink into the world of Midkemia, and you may never want to leave! The final few chapters will have you gripping the book as if it were a life source! I'm not going to ruin the ending for you, it is absolutely ...
