Terry Pratchets Discworld audio books from Corgi
Review of Small Gods - Terry Pratchett by NeilsCiao

Advantages: Audio Cassette tape, starts where it stopped even when tape popped
Disadvantages: Audio Cassette tape, needs changing every hour (ish)

...Witches Abroad Lords and Ladies Small Gods Men at Arms Soul Music Interesting Times Maskerade Feet of Clay The Hogfather Jingo The Last Continent Carpe Jugulum The Fifth Elephant The Truth The Thief Of Time The Last Hero The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents Night Watch The Wee Free Men Monstrous Regiment Going Postal I'm not going to review each because if you like Tony Robinsons narration of one of the books you will ...
...the narrator's voice did't jell with the storey. This is not so in this case. Tony Robinsons range and use of accent is suberb and my only complaint is where the script calls for a whisper I have to turn the car stereo up if I'm on the motorway. We all have our favourite characters or locales and mine is the watch's antics in Ankh Morpork but there is not a book that I don't like. Another good point is that they are nicely timelined. You don't get ... Read review

The fifth in the ever popular discworld series sees the lovable rincewind trying to save the discworld again! i bet he gets sick of this dont you? Death Soloing On a Cliff
Review of Soul Music - Terry Pratchett by Phildude

Advantages: Funny Gota magical guitar and DEATH,,of rats
Disadvantages: could have gone further

...is satire rock and roll, Soul Music. Imp y Celyn is a young harp bard who travels to Ankh-Morpork where he hopes to find some sort of work. Once there, he meets up with an odd pair of fellow musicians, Glod the dwarf and Lias the troll. The three of them end up almost dragged by destiny and magic into a band when Imp discovers a strange magical guitar in a magical moving shop. The guitar seems almost to play itself, and it also seems to be taking ...
...fan, I could relate to Soul Music on an extra level so I expect many others will feel the same.. Soul Music is a seriously hilarious story about commercialism and music, and how the two go together like acid and iron filings. I particularly loved the wizards falling for the "Music with Rocks In", what with , Wizards wearing bell-bottom robes , leather robes with studs on with "Born To Rune" spelled out on the back. DEATH wow funnier than ever ... Read review

And the word was "Hey you!"
Review of Small Gods - Terry Pratchett by CandySuccubus

Advantages: Everything in this book was extremely good, Great for children and adults.
Disadvantages: Nothing i can think of.

...hope it doesn't *PLOT* Small gods is about a turtle, a small turtle who goes by the name of the great god om. Yeah... This turtle is a god. A god who has become small because his believers stopped believing. His priests are no longer holy and everyone just stopped caring. Except for one novice, Brutha, who believes and i don't just mean occaisonally praying. He REALLY believes. Brutha is the type of guy who would help a psychopath even if it meant ...
...So Brutha helps Om and in turn they become friends on their journey of finding "the truth" and belief. *CHARACTERS* The Great God Om - The turtle Brutha - The believer Deacon Vorbis - The Baddie. Those are the most important characters, i tried to tell you a little bit about each without giving away anything. *OPINION* In my honest opinion, this book couldn't get any better. For kids it would teach them something about religion instead of ... Read review

Before Discworld was, there was Strata...
Review of Strata - Terry Pratchett by CaptainDisaster

Advantages: Quite funny and insightful, pretty good characters, inventice
Disadvantages: The Discworld concept just doesn't work as well in a sci-fi setting, Pratchett's writing style not fully developed at this stage

...about time you did). But Strata is an early exploration of that idea and, while I don't think it's up to the standard of the majority of the Discworld novels, it's still good and is basically required reading for Pratchett fans. The story centres around Kin Arad, a woman over 200 years old (surgical techniques are pretty advanced and people are paid by The Company in "days" rather than cash), who works for the afore-mentioned "Company". This organisation ...
...Unlike the Discworld series, Strata is very much a science fiction books (albeit with a couple of fantasy elements), and while it's a good book as is stands, it's also easy to see why Pratchett opted to go for a fantasy setting for the eventual series. Discworld aficionados will recognise certain familiar elements - for instance, there is a pub called The Broken Drum on one of the planets. As sci-fi comedies go it is a good one, though never really ... Read review
