One of the best books you can possibly read.
Review of The Novice - Trudi Canavan by
darkscott8
Advantages: Action packed-filled with excitement.
Disadvantages: Not long enough
...follows on very nicely from the first book in the series. It is one of those books that if you start reading, you cannot put down, and it is definately worth the read. Trudi Canavan takes you on an adventure with her writing, and makes it a "must read". One of the only bad points is that it leaves you on a huge cliff hanger, and if you do not have the last book in the series ready for reading straight afterwards, then you will probably die in suspense. ... ...the moment , is that in some way, it semed a bit short, but I think that this is mainly due to the fact that I did not want to stop reading it. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading fantasies, and especially to people who enjoy reading books like Harry Potter and Pendragon.
Now for the book itself. It follows on from the story of the last book where Sonea was found by the guild and was taken there. It is basically about the struggle that she ...

Voice of discontent...
Review of Voice of the Gods - Trudi Canavan by
Sa1sysoo
Advantages: Addicitive reading with excellent characters
Disadvantages: Ending a little lame?
Voice of the Gods is the last in the Trudi Canavan trilogy - Age of The Five, and because of that I strongly recommend that you read the revious two books; Priestess of the White and Last of the Wilds. This book does refer to them often and regularly, and it would set you up for this book should you read them in advance. It will also help you to understand and empathise with the characters more. Righto, onto the book itself. As stated previously, ... ...with the main character, Auraya, having given up her 'White' status, her status as the highest of the Preists that worship the Circle of Five Gods. Rumours abound as to why she gave her position up, but the official reason is so that she can remain with the Siyee, a winged people that she feels close to, and wishes to protect. But circumstances are changing. The Voices, who worship different Gods, are still threatening peace in the North, the domain ...

Great start to discovering Pratchett
Review of The Colour of Magic - Terry Pratchett by
Simon68
Advantages: Will make you want to read Pratchett over and over
Disadvantages: None
The Colour of Magic was the first Terry Pratchett book I ever read as I was introduced to Pratchetts books by a work colleague and that was about 12 years ago and I've never looked back since, having read everything in the Discworld series since. Pratchett uses a mixture of cliff hanger endings to each chapter, that prevents you from putting the book down, almost as if that if you do you'll miss something. He cleverly inserts jokes and puns that ...

A Must in the series!
Review of Phantom - Terry Goodkind by
Emma_Mouse
Advantages: Things are actually finalising...... hoorah
Disadvantages: Things are actually finalising...... boo hoo
...book out in November.
Phantom again is fantastically written and grabs your attention from beginning until end. I wish there was more Kahlan and Richard integration and it some times becomes a little frutrating as you wish the storey to move on a lot quicker than it actually is.
There is little point in writing a review becuase once you get this far in the series you are not going to deny yourself reading the last two books (it is that addictive) ...

Age of the Five - another Canavan classic
Review of Priestess of the White (Age of the Five) - Trudi Canavan by
Darko3B
Advantages: great read, imaginative plot and characters
Disadvantages: perhaps too many 'main' characters
The 'Priestess of the White' is Trudi Canavan's first book in her latest series; 'Age of the Five'. The book is set in a world where the Gods rule over the land through their representatives, the White. These are powerful sorcerers that have been granted immortality and increased powers in order to be able to govern the land for the good of the Gods. The book follows the story of Auraya, who is chosen to be the fifth and final White. She quickly ... ...the south means that she has little time to master her skills and the White need to attempt to unite the land against the force of the rumoured armies that are on the brink of invasion.
Although Canavan has certainly come on in her adventurous writing style, the book does hark back to her first series; the 'Black Magician Trilogy'. However, the story does involve multiple interesting characters and sub-plots, moving the narrative on at an exciting ...
