While I was pregnant with my daughter Aston I decided I was going to breast feed but thought I better just buy a tin of milk in case she or I couldn't get along with breast feeding.........and my instinct was right. I started trying to breast feed but she would not take to it and I didn't feel all that comfortable doing it either.

I'm not quite sure what made me choose Farley's, maybe it was the name (as it is made by Heinz), but whatever it was, it was a good choice.

There are three types of Farley's milk :

First Milk - which comes in a yellow tin and can be used from birth to 1 year old.

Second Milk - which comes in a green tin and is suitable from birth to one year, but it is more satisfying for hungrier babies.

Farley's follow-on milk - which comes in a purple tin and can be used from six months to twenty four months and is used when weaning is taking place.

The milk is very easy to prepare, it is 1 level scoop of milk powder to 1 fl oz of boiled water allowed to cool for 30 - 40 minutes. It gives you full, clear instructions on the tin to follow, and the scoop is provided in the tin.

Aston is on the second milk at present and it is a white tin with a green lid, a big green square with Farleys second milk in big blue writing in the middle of it with the Heinz logo, and the nutritional information is also in green boxes across the tin as well. Also on the back of the tin it gives you a feeding table to use as a guide to the size bottle you should be making for your baby (but it also points out that it is only a guide and to talk to your health visitor for more advice), the preparation guidelines, important feeding information, nutritional information and the ingredients.

The prices for the different milks are :

Tesco:
1st milk - £4.48
2nd milk - £5.28
Follow on milk - £4.48

Boots:
1st milk - £ 5.29
2nd milk - £5.28
Follow on milk - £ 4.99

You can also buy Farley's ready made (I have only come across this a Boots) in cartons and for a 500 ml carton it is 95p and also you can buy Farley's soya milk but I do not know anything about this product.

Well Aston enjoys this milk and I hope this review is of some help if you are trying to make the difficult decision of buying baby milk.
