My first read of fast car was back in 1988 ish my brother had just bought a copy as he was about to buy a car, I remember it had a mark II ford escort on the front with zebra stripes on the side. I probably still have it somewhere, probably up in the loft at my Mam and Dads. I think it cost £1.75.

From then on I was hooked on cars and couldn’t wait until I could drive I was only 10 but now my toy tractor and farm was put to one side, and in came the car mat the Ferrari’s, Porsches and the errr Skodas, Ladas and robin relients. Still on one rainy day the robin did beat the Ferrari.

The magazine featured performance cars that readers had sent in, with interviews and performance figures about the car in a graph format. I don’t know why but I was always interested in the 0 to 60-mph times.

I looked forward each month to reading the magazine then I remember one month my brother stopped buying it and I was devastated, so I saved my pocket money to buy my own copy.

I continued buying fast car magazine up until 2002 but havnt bought another one since I think it was nearly 4 pounds. I don’t know if it was because I have grown up but the magazine is definitely not what it used to be.

Now If I wanted to buy a magazine full of ladies I would have looked at the top shelf, what is it now do people really believe that sex sells I feel it just frustrates. Out of around 350 pages there was only 50 of them actually new reviewing readers cars the rest were made up of ladies prancing around on bonnets wearing virtually nothing! to advertising sale pages. Now come of it although this magazine will get paid thousands from advertisers this is not what readers want and this I see as not value for money.
And I definitely feel sorry for the female readers because I know they are just as mad on cars as we men are.

So gone is a unsatisfied customer although fast car wont be too bothered as I have probably been replaced by another 10 year car fanatic but this time he is getting two for one, a mucky magazine with a few cars to pretend to look at when Mam walks past.

We all know these magazines contain more than cars. Would never buy it for £4.25. Good start. Jenn x
