I cannot believe it, but I have completed my first year at uni, and I can remember so clearly doing all the shopping trips with my mamma, and one of our shopping trips took us to a brilliant shop, Savers. We needed to buy some first aid supplies, and as well as a bumper selection of plasters, another little bargain that made its way into the basket, and into my room at uni was a pack of antiseptic wipes.
The brand of wipes we had was called Fastaid, and I had Fastaid plasters, and I figured it looked a good product, even though I hadn’t actually heard of the before. As I hadn’t heard of the brand before, I’ve done a little bit of research for you all out there, with help from www.robinsoncare.com. The front page of the website states that Robinson Healthcare are ‘manufacturers of quality innovative products for the healthcare, personal care and animal healthcare sectors’. The Fastaid version of the healthcare products is for first aid, so they also available are things like a variety of plasters, and actual first aid kits, which I think is a brilliant idea.
So, back to what I’m actually reviewing! The wipes come in an oblong plastic container, with nice smooth corners and sides. I have small hands, and the container fits nice and easily into my hand! This demonstrates how these wipes are ideal for carrying about with you, or for a car glove compartment, or for going in the travel bag when you go on holiday.
The Firstaid logo is friendly round bubble writing which is a bold red, on a warm blue background. There’s also a little red and white cross on the front, which is a universally recognised symbol. The front of the pack has a picture of a slightly grimey looking wipe, which means I can only assume that it’s what it looks like once it’s been well used! The blurb tells me that the wipes cleanse and protect the skin, so the first thing that springs to mind for me is the kind of wipes you use for scraped knees, and small cuts. I sense a sort of family ethos here, for the busy family with small children.
OK, so for use, the first thing to do is face the challenge of threading the first wipe through! The first challenge was to get the plastic lid off, and this took a bit of fiddling with the thumbs, and it finally popped off after a few failed attempts.
Looking inside the pack, I see a tightly rolled up pack of wipes, and the second challenge comes around, when I have to get out the first central wipe, and then thread it through the small opening underneath the click lid. By heck this got me all worked up and frustrated!! I could thread a bit of the wipe through, but then I couldn’t get it with my fingertips on the other side!! It got very annoying, and this is the only area where the wipes lost points for me.
When you need to use a wipe, click open the lid, pull at the end of the wipe sticking through the hole, and pull it out until you reach the perforated fits, which easily tears. The wipes are the size of a small tissue, and are slightly see through, and this is due to the wipes being moist, and full of antiseptic goodness!! The wipe can then be simply used to wipe over the affected area, and when I was using it on my scraped knees, I felt a slight stinging, which made me feel that the wipes were doing their job! The wipes smell slightly, but nothing offensive, so no need to worry about that! It also doesn’t make your skin smell. I felt reassured that the wipes did work, after using them on my scraped knees (I caught my high heels on a pavement and went arse over tit, ha!), they healed nicely and evenly, with no infection or irritation.
They are obviously only good for minor injuries, need to remember that! They also come with an expiry date, and mine is December 08, so it’s nice to know you can store the wipes and not worry about having to use them all up in one season.
So, these do come highly recommended, there is nothing wrong with them, they are so easy and convenient to use, and would be a life saver for busy famililies!
Advantages: convemiemt to carry round for minor cuts and scrapes Disadvantages: none
Fast aid antiseptic wipes
It seems as though I have always had children, and with children come their fair (or not so fair) share of scrapes and grazes. I learnt quite early on to carry medical bits and pieces (plasters, lint etc) in the car for days out, and usually have antiseptic wipes
The ones I have carried until recently have been the individually wrapped ones, but whilst these are great, they are easily lost if put into a bag, and also, ... ...paper (but not a lot), they can go a bit soggy!
So, having found these little gems, they are indeed something I will be sticking to, since they apparently kill germs, and clean and protect the skin.
**Product and Packaging**
The wipes come in a small hard plastic container, with 20 wipes.
Each wipe is about small tissue size, like the ones in small boxes, not the man size ones. Each wipe is moist enough to feel as though there is some antiseptic ...
