Advantages: surprisingly good pop-punk Disadvantages: mark hoppus
Now, I?m not the sort of person to put needless pressure onto a band that have undoubted talent, yet with Blink 182 I have this urge to hit them with something hard. For years and years they have released albums with unlimited potential, yet they ruin it by basing their songs on ridiculous subjects such as masturbation. Now, I understand that this is all for the fun of the music and for the entertainment of the fans, but in all honestly if they ever intended to be taken seriously by the music media, then they had to shape up or ship out. Two thirds of the band, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, took time out from the writing process for this album to go and release a debut album as part of the band Box Car Racer. The undoubted success of that album, portraying Tom and Travis in a much more professional light, gives real incentive and shows ...
Advantages: Some strong songs showing the maturity of the band Disadvantages: The odd weak track here and there, and what would be the band's last album...
Produced in 2003, Blink 182's self-titled album, which would result in being their last studio one, arrived with a huge, international fanbase - hungry from more from one of the world's biggest punk bands.
Opening track and single 'Feeling This' can feel like a jumble of musical elements on first impressions, which is a shame as it is genuinely a cleverly layered piece of music - many of you will have definitely heard this, with it having been played on numerous music channels at it's time of release.
'Obvious' gives us some heavy guitar riffs, that build up the tempo as the song goes on, in a similar style to a number of Blink's earlier releases. The repetition of Tom DeLonge's vocals singing the same thing over and over again can becoming annoying to the weaker listener - you have been warned!!
'I Miss You' is another single ...
Advantages: Great selection of just there singles through the years Disadvantages: The pace of the album changes often
When Blink 182 went on there Hiatus there last album came out featuring all the singles that had come out. So these songs are taken off all the previous albums:
1. Buddha
2. Cheshire Cat
3. Dude Ranch
4. Enema Of The State
5. The Mark, Tom and Travis Show
6. Take Off your Pants and Jacket
7. Self Titled
This album highlights the best of Blink 182, With the group which is guitarist/vocalist 'Tom Delonge', bassist/vocalist 'Mark Hoppus' and the start of the album features the original drummer 'Scott Raynor' until 'Travis Barker' took over Drumming on 'Enema of the State'
