"A Feast for Crows" is the fourth book in George R.R Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice" series. The word 'epic' is too often applied to the fantasy genre as a whole yet this series has every fan of the genre screaming the word from the rooftops. This is a series that you find yourself recommending to everyone, even those who loathe the genre. Indeed, the last series I can remember all readers recommending so heartily is "Lord of the Rings" by the great ... ...that the plot to "A Feast for Crows" is a complex one. Martin approaches this novel in the same way he has the first three by splitting the chapters into mini-stories about particular characters in the series. This allows us as readers to follow the paths and lives of several different characters and families as they face there various trials and tribulations. Advantages: The plot is excellent, as in the previous three books. Disadvantages: The book involves the characters in King's Landing, but not the others.
I very much enjoyed reading this book, and have even re-read it a couple of times. George Martin certainly does not dissapoint his readers - the plot is absolutely great, as always. It is impossible to predict what is going to happen next. The characters are very strong, and the chapters of the new ones have been added. I am happy that there are chapters for Cersei now, since I thought that in previous books she has been overlooked and appeared as ... ...character from other angles. However, the book describes only events in King's Landing and Dorne, and the next book should describe others. The language is elaborate, witty and very intelligent, but still is easy to read. Once you start reading this book, it is impossible to put it down - the plot is so catching and unpredictable. And as always, George Martin leaves plenty of room for speculation and wondering about what is going to happen in the ...
