I got this cute little Fellowes shredder about a year ago from Argos after reading the usual sensationalist and alarmist tales of identity fraud in the tabloids. My grandad always told me that you shouldn't go putting documents with your name and address on - never mind those important letters from your bank, credit card company and tax office - into the bin, because odd people really do sift through all our household waste looking for identifying information that they can make wicked use of. He's happy to tear his envelopes into little pieces, but I'm sure as heck not. With credit card companies sending me cheques all the time, the usual bumph from store cards, mobile phone companies, mail order catalogues and the infrequent letters from the bank and tax office, I'd have to do a lot of tearing - and after spending far too much time ...
