Kills sex drive? Really?
Advantages: Sexual confidence, no pregnancy, lighter periods Disadvantages: 3-hour window to take it
I've been having sexual problems since the day I lost my virginity, it went from one problem to another: being allergic to latex condoms, getting irritation from non-latex condoms, then any pill I use gives me some weird side effect like irregular bleeding outside of my period, sore nipples, mood swings, etc.
However, when I was prescribed Micronor, things have never been better. I'm more sexually confident now that I know that I won't suddenly ... ...I've heard that it kills your sex drive, but maybe that's just some people because mine has drastically increased since I started taking this pill. My partner and I went from once a week to 2 times a day. The only problem I can see with this pill is that if you don't take it properly then you still have side effects like bleeding and mood swings. Also I've noticed that since using the pill my periods have become a lot weaker. They're lighter and ...

Implanon works, but for all the wrong reasons!
Advantages: Prevents pregnancy, you don't have to remember to take pills Disadvantages: Almost constant bleeding, No sex drive, Headaches, Mood swings, depression, Significant bruising
What is it?
Implanon is a subdermal implant which is inserted into the upper arm in order to prevent pregnancy. The implant is about the same size as a hair grip, and made of a flexible plastic type material which contains a progestogen which is meant to mimic the natural female hormone progesterone.
How does it work?
It constantly releases this hormone into the bloodstream to prevent pregnancy by: thickening cervical mucus thus preventing sperm ... ...high) but since starting the implanon I quickly had a rapid decline to no sex drive at all. My boyfriend and I moved in together 6 months ago, and we have probably had sex about 4 times since. Although even if I did feel like having sex, i'm usually bleeding anyway.
I feel like the biggest reason this prevents pregnancy in me is that I never want to have sex! It awful, sometimes I can't even stand it if my boyfriend touches me.
I also started suffering ...

My experience of getting Implanon inserted
Advantages: No pill, no risk of osteoperosis, may stop periods altogether Disadvantages: Periods change, headaches, acne, weight gain: look on official Implanon website for full list
...I decided to get the Implanon contraceptive implant" I had a pregnancy scare with my boyfriend after missing a few pills in a row, so went to the doctor and asked for the contraceptive injection. She said that was a bad, outdated method of contraception as it increases the likelihood of osteoporosis in older age. She suggested the implant, went through the pros and cons, and decided why not? It sounded great. No worrying about taking the pill for ... ...get local anesthetic for the small area it is put in. I don't like injections (who does) so was nervous. My first advice is - don't look! I didnt see the anesthetic needle for this injection so I can't really comment on what it looks like, but in past experience, it always feels worse if you look. Also, relax your muscle - I learnt this from past experience also. Much much less painfull if you are relaxed, since that is where they are injecting it ...

Not so marvellous..!
Advantages: Regular periods, and of course, still no kids Disadvantages: nausea, mood swings, migraines
...those until I started taking Marvelon - a day, sometimes two taken out of my life. On the other hand though, they have kept my periods VERY regular, almost to an hour each month, and are a easy way of moving your period for example for holidays - something I miss a lot, being on the POP. It's an OK pill, if you are willing to put up with some side effects. I know people (eg my mum) who have been on it for 20-odd years and have felt perfectly fine. ...

My experience with Implanon, the implant.
Advantages: don't have to take a pill everyday, light to no periods, change every 3 years, very cheap Disadvantages: may cause irregular bleeding or aggravate acne
...I decided with my doctor Implanon was the answer, as I didn't have to take any pills or do anything! Yay just what I wanted. I bought the Implanon from a chemist for $5. (concession discount) All you need is a prescription from your doctor and if you don't have concession I think it's around $35. The rod itself is very small like a matchstick but it's inside this metal big needle thingy obviously used to put it into your arm.. I went to my doctors ... ...I was so sad, the Implanon is the best thing ever! No taking pills everyday, no periods! It's the best how could you complain, then I started getting bleeding again, very lightly but just constant, I bled for another 6 weeks before finally deciding to get it taken out. The day I got it taken out I was covered in spots, I felt like I had been on my period for the last 3 months and it was not a good feeling, I just told him to get it out already. I ...
