Well , for a start a new tune-o-matic bridge has been fitted and the strings now fit perfectly in the saddle and simply do not slip anymore.
The special edition doesn't have a trem arm, but it is something i can easily live without.

People put up with these minor issues as the wow factor of actually owning one of these beauties certainly outweighed the minor flaws.
However, i managed to purchase direct from Tokyo a Fender Jaguar Made in Japan Special Edition. What makes this guitar so much better than the standard reissues?

Perhaps the most important new feature though is the removal of the single coil pickups and they have been replaced with dragster-j pickups that as well as retaining the original twang give so much more sonic options for the player.
Sound: 9
The pickups are ideal for loud in your face distortion, yet the clean, verse type sound its excellent too. The tone is great, and the sound is so clear and bright, as with most fenders.I use a marshall avt 275 amp with it. If you are looking for a deep type sound, this guitar aint for you. With all the tonal variations it offers, it doesn't have a great deep tone.
Action, Fit, & Finish: 8
The Dragster Les Paul type pickups were flawless. The finish of the guitar is much thicker than your average reissue jag, which i also own.
Reliability/Durability: 8 The hardware on the guitar is trully flawless. All screws, knobs and switches are firm and secure. I've just played with it a couple of times live, but it has stood the test. The guitar is considerably heavy, and does feel like it was built to last. The tone and strap knobs are very secure.
Customer Support: N/A Warranty is one year. So far I haven't needed customer support.
Overall Rating: 10 Out of all the guitars that I have ever seen, this is the best looking. That's why I was pleasantly surprised with its overall sound, action, and feel. I also own a reissue 94 jag, and the Special Edition wins by a large margin.
if you're looking for an all round great guitar, at a reasonable price, and if you can find it, get a jaguar special.
Advantages: Body Cut, Tone, Durability, Versatility Disadvantages: Colour Choice
I love this Bass.. It has a really punchy sound and can be applied to any style of music. I recently stood in for a Jazz band at fairly short notice and had to use my Jaguar. It performed admirably and even recieved comments about the sound from both the drummer and pianist.
Look wise the Jag also holds its own, I really like the fretboard inlays which remind me of my Lakland and the cut of the body makes it as comfortable to play sitting as standing.
... ...supplied with the Bass were pretty low quality and lacked a roundness in sound. I know you can get the odd set that is not right and I'm putting it down to this. But once changed the axe played fine.
I would recommend this guitar to anyone and for the £650 I paid its a hell of a lot of wood for your money.. ...
