... Then I saw the Fender?! it was an acoustic and it was hanging there saying 'Play me, Borg, play me.' I slowly walked over and with a shaking hand I touched the strings.

An assistant saw me and asked if I wanted to have a go. I did not need asking ... ...happy with my purchase. My Fender Acoustic not only looks extremely cool, it is great to play to. The action in just right and the sound of the steel strings it perfect. The whole sound it great in fact and it is comfortable to use. Tuning is easy with the machine heads. My playing style is still only as a beginner, but how cool is it to announce that you have a Fender guitar?
Borgette got her keyboard... in case you were wondering... more
Getting towards the end of last year (2008) when most people are thinking about Christmas presents for other people, me and the kids took a Saturday morning trip to the local music store. My daughter, who is nine, was hankering after a keyboard, so I thought I would go and check out what was on offer, as well as prices and so forth, so that I could report back to Santa Claus with my findings...
I had also been thinking of buying a cheap acoustic for myself as I used to strum along before marriage and kids and now that the kids were older, I felt the time was right to take the hobby up again. (Actually I had dreams of being the next Ritchie Blackmore once upon a time, but now I guess that won't happen.)
We had a look at the keyboards, then went to view the guitars. I reminisced a bit with the kids about 'Flying Vs' and' 'Srats' and 'Les Pauls.' It was like entering an Aladdin's cave for me really. Then I saw the Fender?! it was an acoustic and it was hanging there saying 'Play me, Borg, play me.' I slowly walked over and with a shaking hand I touched the strings.

An assistant saw me and asked if I wanted to have a go. I did not need asking twice. He removed it from its place and I put it in my hands. The guitar felt so natural in my arms. I did a bit of blues for the kids, but was a bit rusty. They did not mind. Borgeth was saying, 'Are you going to buy it Dad?' Borgette said, 'Yes, dad, buy it!' They both started chanting 'Buy it! Buy it!' I checked the price. It was on offer. £100, and this included a strap, plectrums and tuner and free set of strings. The guitar I was playing was pine coloured and I was definitely tempted.
But could I justify buying it, when Christmas was so near? Well, I had been doing a lot of overtime? this could be a present from me? I was undecided. Then the assistant said they had it in black.
They had it in Black.
Sold.
The kids and I chuckled as we drove home with my new prize sitting on the front seat. We had gone in to look at keyboards and come out with a new guitar for me! Now several months later I am so happy with my purchase. My Fender Acoustic not only looks extremely cool, it is great to play to.
