Design
The design of the strat is somewhat plane but so effective. The scratch plate is always white but the colours can be red, orange, crème, a blending colour of black and brown.There are some specially made ones with a blue main colour and a glittered scratch plate. The trademark head is a nice shape, going out, coming in and then a circle at the end.It has 3 single coil pickups,double-cutaway,solid body.Floating vibrato unit(though for seriouse whammy bar madness you'll need a locking unit).
sound
The Strats sound has got to be one of the nicest sound ever,without overdrive it just sounds so crisp,sparkling,glassy,sharp(there are thousands of words describing the sound).
Acceptable critisism
Cheaper copies are often prone to microphonic feedback,and most Strats will giove you mains hum unless you get replacement pickups.
There are other guitars that copy the stratocaster like the Suire, this is because the stratocasters cost from £500 to £1000,But I really think its worth it,If your looking for a comfortable, rich sounding guitar, then the stratocaster’s the guitar for you!
Advantages: Fender strat's are the stereotypical electric guitar! Disadvantages: Quality can be poor with large amps
I bought my Fender stratocaster a few years ago, and i have loved every minute of playing it, i use my fender stratocaster with my Marshall MG30DFX, which sounds great. The Fender has an unmistakably smooth, and almost beautiful tone to it.
The fretboard:
The fretboard is shaped perfectly to fit every size of hand, my strat may only have 21 frets, but its all about quality not quantity!
The frets are just big enough to seperate the chords and ... ...The pickups:
These traditional fender pickups are placed in appropraite places, with one at the bridge, one near the fretboard and one in between. Overall these pickups are good, but not excellent, they are good enough for small scale practice and beginer playing, but when used on a big big amp, like a marshall stack, these pickups will create some feedback and not provide the full quality that the amp requires!

For those unfamiliar with the guitar, it is essentially the same guitar used by Rock greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Hank Marvin and Kurt Cobain. The axe I choose to swing is a standard series, made in 2001, with staggered, 3 single coil pickups, with a five way selector and 3 ply black and white scratch ... ...noisy, especially when I crank up my valve amp, although I have not experienced this with my Marshall transistor amp. I would say guitars are a matter of personal choice and style, however if you had to buy a high performance guitar I would strongly recommend the Fender Stratocaster. ...

...own a Left Handed Black Fender strat that is nearly 10 years old now. It is still in lovely condition due to the lack of play as i prefer my Aria Pro II Semi Acoustic to practice on. My Fender has a lovely sound to it. Crisp and clear. Its not like the Warm sound of my Semi or the grunt that a Gibson Les paul gives out. Mine is one of the last Japanese Fenders to come out of the factory before they switched production to Mexico. They make an even ... ...scheme to Black or White. Fender Jap strats were limeted like this and that is why I have a blach Strat with a White pick Guard. If you are thinking about making the jump from a Squire Strat upwards, Move towards a USA copy as I dont know what the Mexico Strats are like. Although You cant take anything away from my Jap strat! ...

Advantages: Looks Good, Plays Good, Feels Good Disadvantages: A bit pricey for something 'standard'
Bought this guitar a few years ago and it is still my main guitar. It is very well built and can take some hard knocks, the plastic has discoloured but the paint still looks perfect. My guitar has the maple neck and shows no sign of wearing, the frets have a little but that should be expected after playing it religiously for four years. The volume pot is a little crackly and might be replaced at some point in the next few months, and the crackling ... ...through a 100 watt stack the standard pickups sound very good, from a Hank Marvin twang to a hard rock distortion sound can all be achieved, although I have changed the pickups in mine to get a more metal sound. The guitar feels very balanced when playing, i.e. not top heavy like an SG. It is also very good for shredding (yngwie malmsteen for example) and playing some good rhythm, although 21 frets are a bit unheard of nowadays, an extra fret would ...

When you hear fender you think the best guitars on earth you,think amps, books, plecs, leads, you think of the stratocaster.
there are so many variations and strat style guitars no wonder its one of the most popular guitars in history.
but when it gets round to it is the fender standard strat really all its upped to be?
the lay out is clean the guitars are light weight, great colour scheme, easily customizable with not head, strings, scratchplate, ... ...sound, and the pick up selector gives you 5 completely different options. and the 2 tone controls are a great asset.mine has never fallen out of tune from playing but the knocks ive given it have knocked the whole thing out! it was japanese but i didnt know that i just assumed that how much they were so do be on the lookout for an odd change in price.(they normally go from anywhere from 150-350)

Fender has been known throughout history. They have had some of the most famous guitar players ever as their best advertisements; hence they need no television coverage or radio ads. They get all they need from the massive stars who stand, carefree in front of thousands of fans, playing the MOST famous guitar that will ever be built. It is an AMERICAN standard.
The American StandardStratocaster has every mark of a classic guitar, and more than that. It is not just a statement that you hold history in your hands, but a fact. Everything from the slight nuances of every guitar to the perfect sleek look simply adheres to great playability.
Firstly, of course there are the finishes. Some guitars on a purely aesthetic level even fail, simply because their finishes are not flawless, or does not match the grain of the wood ...
Advantages: it has a classic design and is rounded off with a decent price Disadvantages: not a vintage style guitar for people who like them and may b finished off badly
The American Standard is now what I (and a lot of guitarists) consider a production "Strat". It takes the basic, classic design of the Stratocaster and refines it just a little bit with modern features. I am going to address issues that someone who is perhaps at an intermediate stage in their guitar experience might find interesting.
While the need for one extra note on the 22 fret neck isn't a good example of "modern features", the flatter finger board radius (10") makes these guitars set up and play much nicer than "older/vintage" models. These will set up with a lower action and not fret out when compared to a more rounded radius neck.
The medium jumbo frets are a nice compromise between really huge frets that some like and the older style narrower and small size.

Bought a maple-neck (with black plastic dot markers) sunburst Am Std Strat from Bentley Music in Kuala Lumpur in 1992 for RM 1 670. came with a rectangular hardshell case (not form-fit) with screw-type SKB hinges and lock (padlock not provided).
Had to go through 7 guitars until I found 1 that had a flaw I could correct (faulty volume pot). This goes to say that all the guitars I tested had unpardonable flaws such as poor string-polepiece alignment (you lose power and definition), ill-fitting neck-pocket, badly-seated nut (you lose tone and sustain) or scratchy/poorly tapered volume and/or tone
controls (makes the guitar unsuitable for live gigs until these are replaced).
This should not be the case with a fine company such as Fender. Quality control must be tightened, in my humble opinion. As mentioned before, out ...
