Ferplast Ferret Cage Furet XL

The ferplast ferret cage is, in my opinion, a good cage for the price.
The bars are well spaced (not suitable for smaller animals which would be able to escape) and there are several access 'doors'.
The cage sits upon a relatively deep plastic base (easy to lift off) which is easy to clean, although if your ferret likes to squat in a corner when going to the toilet, there can become a rather clumped mess around the top of the plastic ...
...difficult to clean - this problem could probably be solved by increasing the base depth a little more. Increasing the depth would also help to reduce the amount of 'spill' eg. sawdust that the ferret inevitably kicks out onto the floor.
The cage is provided with a couple of levels which you can fit at any height within the cage you desire - this gives the ferret extra room to play around in, there is also plenty of space to add other accessories.

There are several cage 'doors' with the normal latch opening - for most animals these are fine however my ferret has figured out how they work and can now open them by himself which is obviously not something we want him to do. So we've had to make some 'home adjustments' to stop this happening which is not ideal.
The coating on the bars does start to pull away after some time - usually as a result of ferrets gnawing on the bars and after this the metal underneath does have a tendancy to begin to rust. That said it is still a good quality cage.
Due to the large size of this cage you will need a good sized area in which to put it and it can feel quite dominating in a room however this is the price you pay when you have a pet such as a ferret - they require a large amount of space in which to live compared with other caged pets such as rats and hamsters.
