Ferplast Italien Chinchilla Sandbox

I have owned a chinchilla for a few years now and bath time can always be messy as they have to roll in a special sand that has minerals in to keep their fur fresh and clean and to keep it enriched as they can start to matt up over time. Where the chinchilla rolls and flicks itself about in the sand it can cause a mess if you do not have the right equipment due to the sand grains being very small and light and in the rolling motion they can spread everywhere.
The good thing with this product when I tried one out is that it has a lid to prevent that mess although the size of it would prevent any community bathing if you have more than one as chinchillas are very social and love to play in the sand together as well as tearing around a cage making a racket too. I found with my adult male that unlike the bath he has now he was too trapped and restricted in his movement due to the size and shape where as his large domed bath he has now lets him have a much more free and save space to clean and it is not in the dark too.
For a young baby this may be a good idea as you can isolate them one at a time and that way prevent the youngster getting squashed by an over exuberant parent or sibling.
I still would recommend a larger more spacious sand bath but compared to the many open top baths up for sale this is still a convenient option. If you are concerned about the mess or do not have a roofed bath any bathroom or kitchen floor (must be dry and toilet lid down) is advised as it will be easier to clean up afterwards.
