I don’t think anybody could imagine F1 Grand Prix races without the Ferrari team, the scarlet red cars stir passionate feeling in Ferrari fans all over the world. If you look at any crowd at an F1 race meeting there will always be a sea of red hats and T-shirts with the famous Ferrari symbol – the Prancing Horse, on flags and banners everywhere.
One thing that makes Ferrari special is that the whole car is a Ferrari. The engine, gearbox, chassis and electronics are all made by Ferrari; probably the only part not made by themselves are the tyres. The other major factor is the family atmosphere around the team. Although the whole team is truly professional and personnel are sometimes replaced, the major players in the team stay with Ferrari for a long time. Being an Italian team sometimes gives the impression of a very big Latin family all very close, and all very committed to the team.
The team always has the persona of being very professional and perfect, but like everybody else the team members are only human and sometimes mistakes are made. The Ferrari team’s Achilles heal seems to be tyres. On a number of occasions the team has either had no tyres ready, or the wrong tyres in place during a pit stop. But even with these mishaps they still seem to be able to produce fabulous results over and over again.
If you look at the results of all the Grand Prix races that Ferrari have entered they are so impressive and go on for page after page. It is therefore surprising that when Michael Schumacher won the drivers championship in the 2000 season that it had been 21 years since they has last won this championship.
The team is controlled by Luca Di Montezemolo, the team’s Chairman. (Why does the term Godfather seem to spring to mind?) But the day to day running of the team is dominated by two individuals – Jean Todt, the Team Principal and Ross Brawn, the Technical Director. I would imagine that during the racing season these men must live and breathe Ferrari, but I am very envious. To be involved with such a great team at such a high level must be a terrific position to be in and give a great deal of satisfaction, plus also a great deal of money.
I personally hope that Ferrari will continue to be one of the great teams of F1 for many years ahead. And, when I win the lottery a Ferrari will be one of my first purchases.
Advantages: Good team Disadvantages: lack of recent success
In the 1950's Ferrari dominated Formula One. The old drivers like Fangio made the Scarlet colours of the Maranello outfit famous throughout the world. While their road cars continued to be market leaders in performance, their race cars have been less successful. In fact, before Michael Schumacher Won the 2000 Season championship, Ferrari had been waiting for 21 years for a title. No one had won it since Jody Scheckter in 1979 for the Italian giants. ... ...him to technically rewrite the Ferrari plans when he joined with Schumacher. Rory Berne, the designer, has improved, honed and developed some of the best cars on the gird in recent times. Jean Todt has brought a great management structure to the team and secured stability to an unreliable and disjointed team. Schumacher brings the driving talent. He is currently peerless in the sport. His Co drivers have added a useful foil to his driving while not ...

Advantages: Good solid team. Disadvantages: Favour Schumacher at the expense of the other drivers.
Yeah ok Ferrari are a great team, not my favourite, but yeah a good team none the less. My criticism goes to the lack of support for their number 2 drivers. Last year (1999) was a classic example of a team getting it wrong. Ok if he hadn't had his accident at Silverstone, Michael might have won his 3rd championship, i doubt it but he might've. If they hadn't backed Michael 99% of the time, from the start of the '99 season, Irvine may have been able ... ...might've become champ himself, despite his lack of support as the number 2. What's the saying? Never put all your eggs in one basket, well that never applied, in F1, more than it did last year. If all drivers had equal status within their respective teams then we would see just what each driver's capabilities are and then we might have a more fair and interesting championship to watch. ...

Advantages: Ferrari can look to dominate for a few years Disadvantages: McLaren will work extra hard to catch up
...between Mclaren and Ferrari; when Ferrari won the team title in 1999 it put the teams (roughly) level. This year they won both and proved they were a more consistent team, if maybe not having better car. Schumacher's influence in this cannot be underestimated. As a driver he is without parallel in the world today (it is a great pity that Senna is no longer with us - for they would have some truly great battles) with Hakkinen being the only one even ... ...they wanted to - a Ferrari world champ.
So are there any solutions? Nothing that is likely to happen. The only top level driver likely to move soon, in my opinion, is David Coulthard who may well not be getting a fair crack of the whip from McLaren. Ralf Schumacher has all his brother's potential and given a drive in one of the top 2 teams would make it very interesting. The brothers at Ferrari - now that would be interesting. Until Williams, Jordan ...

Ferrari have the longest tradition in the sport of Formula One Motor Racing, being founded by Enzo Ferrari and having competed in every Grand Prix since 1950, when the official world championship started. Ferrari used to be a great team winning more titles than any other. Since the late 1970's though, they have struggled with reliability being their main problem.
Nigel Mansell helped to turn things around in 1991, winning several races for them, ... ...Schumacher is on board, and Ferrari have finally overcome this reliability problem the title is there for the taking. Barrichello is a good number two driver for the team and Jean Todt has a good brain when it comes to race strategy.
Having contested 655 Grands Prix they are the most succesful team in the sport with 145 race wins and 11 constructors titles. Their drivers have won a total of 14 titles for the Scuderia, as they are also known. Scuderia ...

...21 Years Michael Schumacher puts FERRARI back as Champions!!
Race account as at 08 October 2000 ~ The Day Michael Scuhmacher put Ferrari back as Champions
Today, Suzuka, in Japan witnessed a remarkable victory for the Ferrari team as Michael Schumacher won, followed by Mika Hakkinen and Coulthard as third.
Although Hakkinen made a blistering start, Schumacher was always on the pace throughout the race. Throughout the race both world champions ... ...pit stop by the Ferrari pit team whereby Michael made a stop of 7.4 secs compared to Mika’s 6.6 secs which allowed Michael to go an extra 2 laps before pitting again for the final time. So the last stop of Michael’s was shorter and enabled him to come out in front of Mika on Lap 37 and go on to win the race.
Throughout the race, both drivers drove superbly, although Scuhamacher always had the edge when the driving conditions got slightly ...

Advantages: Cant think of any Disadvantages: Where do I start..?
I have a confession to make. I posted this op on Ciao a little while ago, but it got few reads, as it wasn’t in the right category – it’s also been improved. Now it’s in its rightful place and I’d love it if you rated it, thanks…
In Formula one we always talk about the stars of F1 like Ferrari, Williams and McLaren. But what about the bad teams. The teams who constantly brought the name of F1 down, who constantly brought up the rear of the grid – that is if they could qualify – and fizzled out before we really knew they were there. Yeah, yeah you are probably thinking I am talking about Minardi and Arrows who are at the moment at the forefront of poor. But no! I am talking about the teams who make these two look like Ferrari.
So here it is – after long research – ...
Advantages: excellent entertainment, every race is nearly different - except the winner Disadvantages: Murrey is leaving!!!
Well, we've got the worst two races of the season over where we have to get up at some ridiculous time in the morning, drink five cups of coffee and two Red Bull's to stay awake. And Schumacher won both of them, by miles.
Being a Schumacher fan (well, you have to back the winners) I of course knew he would win again this year. I have just been reading about this so called legal traction control thing that they have. Well, as it's legal McClaren can't really complain can they, they should of thought of it first. I remember a few years ago when they had two brake pedals for a few races...wouldn't have been as easy to win without those would it.
This year I am hoping that Coulthard will get more points than Hakkinen, not that I don't like Hakkinen but he is sooooooo boring, please don't interview him again!!!
Obviously Ferrari ...
Advantages: 1995 Constructor's Champions, excellent midfield battlers in late eighties, one of the famour "Big Four" for nearly a decade. Disadvantages: Shallow championship successes, rapid decline since 1995, Favlio Briatore
Only at one time in their sixteen year existence from 1986 to their final year in 2001 did Benetton peak and prove to be the team to beat in Formula One. However, even that statement is to an extent an illusion, and the reason for it also explains why their subsequent search to rediscover that form was misguided in its' approach.
In writing this opinion I hope to unfold the history of Benetton and lay bare that fatal flaw that inhibited their capacity to win Championships. As I shall explain, it may make interesting reading for fans of Ferrari. (Those lacking in patience should just scroll down to the conclusion - this is quite long).
