01.01.2001 update This opinion was written immediately after Ferrari won the Championship in October 2000, and relates to the events and feelings that unfolded in Sepang during the winning moments.
Already a Triple World Champion after winning at Japan 2 weeks ago, Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello finished 1st and 3rd at Malaysia today. This ensured that Ferrari won the constructors Championship well ahead of Mclaren.
The Mclaren’s got of too a good start but due to Mika’s stop/go penalty, Mika was not able to finish on the podium despite fighting his way through the field and came 4th. However, David Coulthard had an exciting race chasing race leader, Michael Schumacher during the last few laps of the race. After a close race, he was not able to overtake Michael as he did last year, and finished a close second place, followed by Barrichello.
Unfortunately, for other Brits such as Jaguar’s Johnny Herbert for whom this was his last F1 race he had a high speed accident and was carried away from his car by marshals, luckily he had not broken his leg and had some severe bruising only. His team mate Eddie Irvine managed to come 6th place giving Jaguar some points. Williams did not have a good race, even though Button managed to climb his way up to 10th from 18th, the retired soon later due to mechanical problems.
Now Ferrari are very much a strong team for the next season 2001 after claiming both drivers and Constructors’s Championship. They are very much in the winnings as they break the 21 year gap of winning the drivers title, now there is only more success to come.
Congratulations F E R R A R I ! Well deserved.

It was a real shame for poor Johnny Herbert. That crash put him out of contention for for a CHAMP car drive (Which means I'm now going to be getting up early just to watch one Brit) and Brundle beat him to the Bentley Le-mans drive. The guy just has no luck :(
Advantages: 1995 Constructor's Champions, excellent midfield battlers in late eighties, one of the famour "Big Four" for nearly a decade. Disadvantages: Shallow championship successes, rapid decline since 1995, Favlio Briatore
