Advantages Good Lookin' and Nippy
Disadvantages Bad Reputation (somewhat understandable)
Its been exactly a year now since I entered the world of FIAT. There she was a P reg green fiat bravo with 73000 miles. Bargain I thought at only £1250. I was right.
Bearing in mind, my last car was a 1.0L Nissan Micra, the Bravo was a joy to drive, with smooth gear changes, and good (ish) fuel consumption. With the journeys I have to drive its good, but no so good around a town centre. There were some bad vibes going around the family about my new car, mainly from my dad. 'Don't buy a Fiat son, you remember your mums old cars!' he used to say.
She used to have a Fiat Panda and a Fiat Uno, enough to put anyone off a Fiat. However, things change. Fiat seemed to come into their own in the late nineties, making good cars that didn't fall apart. The bad reputation of Fiat, (mainly Fix It Again Tomorrow), was somewhat true, but after this many miles you expect a few problems.
At 75,000 miles the clutch slave cylinder failed. Easy repair, cost me nothing as it was under warranty, off the road for about 2 days in total. At 82,250 miles, only 2 days after an MOT, the exhaust fell off. Easy job I thought. I was wrong. The exhaust is in one piece and is not sold as sections...... DOH! £125 later the car was back on the road.
So given its so called bad reputation, my bravo has spent only 4 - 5 days off the road. For anyone looking for a decent run around, I would reccomend an eight year old Fiat, there not as bad as people say!!!!
cheers for listening.Russ

Doesn't sound very good with all the repairs you keep having to do. Ouch at the cost of the exhaust. Fionaxx
