ROVER MADE ME BARKING MAD!!
Advantages: GOT ME FROM A TO B - SOMETIMES!! Disadvantages: EVERYTHING INCLUDING GUILT!
My first car was an m reg rover metro. We had a love hate relationship with more emphasis on the hate really! It was a brief encounter, lasting only three months. She finally died after I went over a speed bump rather too hastily. I didn't ever give her a name, think it was out of spite really. She was always breaking down on me, usually in heavy traffic or at the most inconvenient time possible!
Reminds me of the scene in Fawlty Towers when John ... ...DAMN GOOD THRASHING'. Looked like he could of had a similar relationship, but I didn't use violence on such a barbaric scale, it was more of a battle of wits between the two of us to gain that all important power dynamic. Looking back we were both quite handy at dishing out the silent treatment.
There were quite a few blemishes on her body work already when I bought her. I lovingly patched her up. Inside she looked a bit worn out. I put on new leather ...

Fiat Cinquecento 1.1i Sporting
Advantages: fun to drive, ecomonical, reliability. Disadvantages: prone to head gaskets going if not properly maintained, no power steering
I LOVE this car, even though I am lucky enough to be able to drive several this is certainly one of my favourites. Its easy to drive, loads of cabin space (I have 4 children and they all fit in comfortably and belted up correctly as with the new laws). Its very responsive and as mine is the sporting version(1.1i) it will amble on the motorway quite happily at 70mph with enough left in reserve for overtaking. The fuel consumption is excellent (£20 ... ...over 300miles till next fill up!. There is no power steering on this model and it can be difficult in tight situations. Electric windows are standard on the sporting along with a sunroof and alloy wheels. The bootspace is a little small but the back seats fold down if needed. The back windows open too allowing ventilation in hot weather. The head gaskets are prone to go on the car but if you keep up to the maintainence and servicing you should be ...

Ideal first car
Advantages: Cheap to run, easy to park, reliable Disadvantages: Too small?, Probably needs more power for motorway use
The Fiat Cinquecento is my first ever car. Although now on its last legs it's has worked out as tremendous value for money buying it for £400 4 years ago. In this time we have had few mechanical issues and it has been into the garage only 6 or 7 times. To drive the Cinq is adequate. I would say ideal for a new driver. The small engine means that speeding is almost impossible but does make motorway driving difficult. It is, however, not such a large ... ...light and can reach speeds of up to 90mph. Power steering is not missed as the car is so small but manouvres such as a 3 point turn can be hard work! The size of the car also makes it ideal for city driving, especially when it comes to parking in tight spaces!
Lookswise the Cinq is pretty standard. The car is, in my opinion. a nice shape but for me personally it is a little on the small side (I'm 6'4"!). Having said that inside the car is very spacious. ...

Not a winning formula
Advantages: Cheap to fill with petrol Disadvantages: You might not survive a collision to get use out of it
...you can't expect too much.If Fiat had came up with a better design, a more responsive engine, and a safer feeling car and combined this with build quality and reliability, this car would have been much better. It does not compare to a late 1990's Toyota Yaris n any way, shape or form.
I also never understood why Fiat did not fit a glovebox to this car-this means any valuables are on full public display, although the boot is so small this could double ...

Cinquecento still awesome after all these years.
Advantages: Cost, economy, fun to drive, size Disadvantages: Wouldn't get near 1 EuroNCAP star
Don't agree with the vast majority of colchedders review. I've got one and although not quick, it'll still do 0-60 in around the 15 second mark, and I ALWAYS travel at 80mph on motorways and dual carriageways - in fifth. It even stays in fifth at 80mph going up the hills - no problem whatsoever. Granted if you want to cruise permanently at more than 80 then don't get the 0.9, but what do you expect from a tiny 50mpg motor (Yes even at 80mph). Although ... ...off the clock which reads up to about 105mph, in reality it was probably doing around 95mph max, (and I certainly wouldn't advise anyone attempting this unless they know what they're doing as it was slightly unstable at those speeds) but to claim that it's horrendously slow is an over exaggeration. I've done a lot of mileage in the past year and a half and not once have I had any mechanical problems, and the only thing that could be slightly annoying ...
