Advantages: magnificent seats Disadvantages: Pedals too close to each other, spongy brakes
The Doblo 1.9 JTD, ELX. Sace, magnificent seats, light, nimble and zingy to drive, precise and quick steering, light, quick and perfectly positioned gearbox, performance and sheer convenience. I also enjoy the wacky looks.
Bad Points:
Pedals too close to each other, spongy brakes and an inaudible indicator.
General Comments:
The Doblo turbo-diesel is a very fine machine. To call it a van with windows sounds ... ...as quiet, quick, comfortable and crisp to drive as this one is then what's the point of conventional cars?
This is not a noisy beast and although there is faint diesel clatter when it's cold this quickly subsides to virtually inaudable, and the road and wind noise is well suppressed too, leading to a very relaxing drive, particularly at speed. General Comments: The Doblo turbo-diesel is a very fine machine. To call it a van with windows sounds like damning with faint praise, but if all vans are as quiet, quick, comfortable and crisp to drive as this one is then what's the point of conventional cars?
This is not a noisy beast and although there is faint diesel clatter when it's cold this quickly subsides to virtually inaudable, and the road and wind noise is well suppressed too, leading to a very relaxing drive, particularly at speed. The seats are very special, the driver's having a sensible lumber adjustment and a relationship to most of the controls, particularly the gearbox, which is unsurpassed. Unfortunately this excellence is marred slightly by a pedal arrangement which puts the accelerator too close to the clutch.. I am geting used to this, but cannot understand why the designers didn't just place the go pedal an inch further over, there is ample room. Also, the brakes, although perfectly adequate, are spongy. this I am getting used to easily, but my last car had firm anchors which I preferred.
The Doblo has the usual contemporary assemblage of see you home lights, auto volume increase to the (good) stereo and excellent interior lighting. However, the car's greatest achievement is to have oodles of space for luggage and passengers, with ample storage. It feels very solid and rattle free and the steering and throttle response are so immediate and precise that every journey is a delight for a keen driver. The handling isn't bad either, indeed, it is fun. The engine is lovely and its on-paper performance figures don't do justict to the immediate throttle response and real push-in-the- back overtaking ability it can deliver within the (admittedly narrow) diesel power band.
No, on balance this is one very fine motor. The looks are great, not dullsville like the French competition, it seems very well put together, it is wonderful to look out of, it has room for all my stuff, and more and, of paramount importance, it is fun to drive. I was even waved at by a fellow driver yesterday, which says alot about the car. This is no bland box but a well engineered Italian driving machine that dares to be different in the interest of common sense. Well done Fiat.
Advantages: Made in Turkiye therefore very cheap here. Disadvantages: A whole lot
...Heating controls and the ancient Fiat 124 looks ventilation ports are annoying. And they stick our like sore thumbs since they are in a different color.
The dashboard is made of very cheap plastics. And what is it all about that exposed body metal all around the interior ?? (Reminds me of the interior of the Renault Twingo) Black dashboard, light grey door panels, blue controls and vent ports, whitish overhead shelf... A strange blend indeed.
Passenger ... ...for this vehicle.
The electric windows whine so much that I was worried that the mechanism would break down and I would have to pay for it.
The stereo system is exceptionally good. I was told that it was a Philips. Good.
Interior trim rattles too much to be ever pleased. That is probably why the stereo is so good. Play it at full blast and forget about the rattles and squeeks...

Advantages: The space and the quietness while driving Disadvantages: safety
...Unlike most new cars this Fiat Diablo does not contain a CD Player, it contains a Radio Casette which when i found out i got a shock to be honest i thought a new car which does not have a CD Player its odd really. But if you would like to have a Cd Player in then it is optional.
Safety In my eyes a car should be safe but this car oes not seem to be as safe as other cars the reason being the only safety equidment are driver's airbags and pasenger ... ...found out that there is a minium of 750mm of boot space but a max of 3000m with the back seats brung down.
Transmissions -MANUAL 5-SPEED
There are many versions of the diablo's which i have listed below

Advantages: Very Nippy , usefull interior size, price, Disadvantages: Very few considering price
...Citroen, Peugeot, Renault, where the Fiat Doblo does seem to excell in almost all areas and it is slightly bigger with the distinct advantage of having the suprisingly perky fiat engine under the bonet, my advice is get out there and compare like for like but so far everyone we have spoken to who own the Doblo are delighted with their purchase.

Advantages: Loads of space / very easy access Disadvantages: Rather noisey at speed, split seating not flexible enough for some applications
...I would be a Fiat owner in a million years; due to a bad experience with a Fiat Uno some 20 years ago. I had been looking for a vehicle to double as family carrier and a van for shifting allsorts. I had looked at what seemed to be the 3 contenders out there, Peugeot, Citroen and Renault and test drove them all. It was only on some infomation from my wife that I went and had a look at the Doblo. I could not believe the difference this little beauty ... ...I went to my local Fiat dealer in the end I did shop around and try and find the best price. No one could beat the dealership.I paid £220 this included new wiperblades and they cleaned and valeted the car. I dropped it off in the morning and picked up later that day. A courtsey car was offered at the time of booking the service if I had required it. I was very happy with the service I recieved. ...

Advantages: Space, good seating and driving Disadvantages: Quality, very poor indeed (mechanically), and very poor service from Fiat
I have had this car now for 4 years and had nothing but trouble with it. It is of very poor quality. Within weeks of buying it I have had the fuel pup replaced, within months I needed a new window wiper motor. The car never starts properly from cold, although this was apparently solved with the new fuelpump. The doors jam open and all the hinges and rails were rusting after less than a year. Everything breaks on it because it is such lousy cheap ... ...it had fused solid. The garage was merely going to replace it (for hundreds of pounds).
Recently my stating problems got worse (they never managed to fix it). They say it needs a new fuel pump at a cost of £1,500. I wrote to Fiat, but they have told me they are sorry but can;t help. My advice... despite it being roomy and has good seating, stay well away from this car and this brand.
