we have owned a Marea for the last 4 years, it was an absollute bargain at £3000 when it was 4yrs old and about 50,000miles. this car has a very good engine, it is very flexible so driving round a corner in the wrong gear isnt that much of a problem. it will actually run at about 16mph in 5th ... Advantages: reliable, good engine, looks good, cheap to buy Disadvantages: not the best fuel economy, seats can be uncomfortable
...35,000 miles rather than the fiat quoted 70,000. the interior is spacious in the front and back. there is air vents in the back and under the front seats, it has air conditioning, but it only really works as a fan (not sure if refilling it would help), the auto function still works, but the knob is a bit tempermental so it sometimes has to be on 0 for the auto function to work. the front seats arent very comfortable over long journeys, but the dash ... ...good size and as its a saloon it can be opened with a finger (our other car, a mondeo saloon, requires a lot of effort to open). all the electrics work except the air con. it has quite a sporty look from the front and its a bit distinctive from the back.
the engine is fairly economical with good driving, normal driving is around 35mpg, but can be pushed upto atleast 40 with with some economical driving. the car looks big at first but has a ... more
we have owned a Marea for the last 4 years, it was an absollute bargain at £3000 when it was 4yrs old and about 50,000miles. this car has a very good engine, it is very flexible so driving round a corner in the wrong gear isnt that much of a problem. it will actually run at about 16mph in 5th gear whilst idling, and its not a challenge to pull away in 4th (of course this isnt advisable). in the 4 years nothing has gone wrong except the cam belt breaking at 50mph, which was obviously expensive, apparently it is advisable to change the belts after about 35,000 miles rather than the fiat quoted 70,000. the interior is spacious in the front and back. there is air vents in the back and under the front seats, it has air conditioning, but it only really works as a fan (not sure if refilling it would help), the auto function still works, but the knob is a bit tempermental so it sometimes has to be on 0 for the auto function to work. the front seats arent very comfortable over long journeys, but the dash has pretty good build quality. the boot is a pretty good size and as its a saloon it can be opened with a finger (our other car, a mondeo saloon, requires a lot of effort to open). all the electrics work except the air con. it has quite a sporty look from the front and its a bit distinctive from the back. the engine is fairly economical with good driving, normal driving is around 35mpg, but can be pushed upto atleast 40 with with some economical driving. the car looks big at first but has a fairly small wheelbase making parking pretty easy.
Advantages: A hell of a lot of car for your money (not much) Disadvantages: Not exactly a babe magnet
...And so we have the Fiat Marea - and car which can be rather taken for granted. Buyers will be convinced they have landed a bargain, seller will think they were robbed. All the mod cons are there - air con, electric windows, PAS, often a CD autochanger. Lovely, lively engine - reliable and efficient too. Lots of space and comfort and a refined and relaxed ride.
I bought mine for £900 and it had everything - was only 5 years old and with 53K - what ... ...the Bravo and Brava (also identical) the Marea looks crap and no-one is going to want to shag you in or out of it.
The only people I can recommend this too are doleys who breed like locusts and want cheap transport. If you want a banger for work then you`ll get a small car or if you`re a family man, you`ll want something the kids are pleased to be seen in. A company rep is not gonna sell a Mars Bar from this.
But wait, like Paul Groves, the Marea ...

Advantages: Huge capacity Disadvantages: Doesn't handle very well.
I borrowed one of these recently to take my family to the airport (three adults, two tiny children and all the luggage that goes with that lot for 2 weeks!).
The Weekend is the estate version of the Marea and it does offer a huge amount of boot space. We managed to fit 3 suitcases, 2 overnight bags, 2 nappy bags and 2 push chairs into the boot of mine. OK so it wasn't easy and fitting it all in felt like some kind of test from the Krypton Factor, but we did get it all in.
There is plenty of seat room in the Marea and plenty of leg room too. It is a large car, on the inside and on the outside with a fairly long nose and high, chunky boot.
The interior trim is quite a good spec. for a middle of its range car. It has plush seating with a split rear seat and rear arm rest. All seats have head rests and there are three diagonal ...
