I’m the proud owner of a Pandy 750 of the line “Fire”. The speciality of the Fire-line is, that it hasn’t anything special. It even hasn’t got a radio. But this ... ...car. Lack of technical equipment can be compensated with creativity, e.g. singing during drive ;o)
My parents bought the car in september 1992, as one of the last Pandas, which were exported to germany. In italy, the Panda is still produced and even the most common car in the land. Sometimes, a new Panda still loses his way in Germany, just to show, that absolutely nothing has changed in 10 years.
Hello Ciao-User and welcome to my first opinion! Actually, it isn’t my first one, because I’m active at Ciao Germany. Therefore, my english isn’t the best. I hope, it’s understandable enough, that you don’t have too much troubles, reading it. I’m still learning ;o)

I’m the proud owner of a Pandy 750 of the line “Fire”. The speciality of the Fire-line is, that it hasn’t anything special. It even hasn’t got a radio. But this is a fact, that even rises the cult-status of my car. Lack of technical equipment can be compensated with creativity, e.g. singing during drive ;o)
My parents bought the car in september 1992, as one of the last Pandas, which were exported to germany. In italy, the Panda is still produced and even the most common car in the land. The 25 KW/ 34 HP made many of my friends laugh and the acceleration of 22 seconds for 62 mph is really miserable. Even a MCC Smart is faster ;o) And latest at 80 mph, top speed has been reached. Not only, because the motor achieves no more, but also because you have the feeling, that the car takes off ;o)
But in normal city traffic, the Panda keeps up quite well. Most of the other participants don’t push very hard at the accelerator, and if you’ve got a leadfoot, you’ve almost got the feeling, that you drive a full car ;o)
The gas-consumtion isn’t very high. It uses about 1,2 gallons (I don’t know, which measures the British use for fuel) super per 60 miles, what is okay. With a full tank, you can drive about 300 to 350 miles. Not much, but it’s a small tank for a small car.
Transporting is very good with this car, because if you lay back the backseats, you have much space. I even managed to get 12 beer-crates in this car. 2 more on the front passager’s seat, and the party can begin ;o) The front passager’s seat can be laid back in 2 seconds. So you instantly can make a comfortable place, to have a little bit fun with your girl ;o)
Nine years a really a long time for a car, especially for a cheap one like this. In german, we make fun with the company name Fiat. We say, that it stands for “Fehler In Allen Teilen”, which means: faults in all parts. It is often said, that even new Fiats are ready for the scrap heap. But I can’t say this about my car. After 9 years and 80.000 miles, I never had any problems with it. I only had to change wear-out-parts, which is even very cheap. And considering the fact, that I really torment my car, this is almost a sensation!
Unfortunately, the car has a lack of safety. There is namely a safety belt, but that’s all. And what about the crumple zone? Let’s say it that way, the whole car is a crumple zone ;o)
But on the other hand, the car has things, which really make me proud. For example, it has a rearwindow wiper. Funny, if I compare it with the expensive 20.000 Pound BMW of my Dad, which hasn’t one! And the box-shape of the car body is a real advantage, while ice-scratching in winter ;o)
There are many other things, that make the car so funny. E. g. the window-handle, that goes the other direction, as in other cars. Or the grip, to open the door from inside. It’s a little handle, that finely is worked in the door. If you don’t know, where to search, you’ll have problems. I often watch my friends desperately try to leave the car. It’s a big sadistic satisfaction, to watch them, searching for the handle. These are things, which raise the fun-factor of this car.
Nevertheless, I think, that the Panda is a car, be meant for women. I’m not a sexist, but it’s the reaction of girls, that makes me come to this conclusion. They often say “Oh, how sweeeeet!” or “What a cuddly car!” etc. Well, I must admit, that the Panda has something special about it. It’s a scrapheap with a high fun-factor!
Okay, so far so good! Hope, my opinion wasn’t that crap (like my car is ;o))
Greetz from Germany, we also have better cars there :o)x
Advantages: Cheap and quite reliable Disadvantages: Tinny and quite slow
As the cheapest of the 2nd generation Pandas post 1986, the 750L wasn`t exactly going to be a car of luxury and lo and behold, it wasn`t.
Starting the engine which was a smaller version of the popular and reliable FIRE engine; these are pretty reliable and require little maintainance - they are usually quite tolerant of bad maintainance too which is good, as these cars are hardly likely to be looked after. Don`t be too put off by the 769cc engine ... ...noisily (even though the top speed is quoted at only 78MPH). Around Town, the Panda`s limitations are far more acceptable although economy isn`t that stunning (expect no more than 35MPG in general). Neither is acceleration (23 secs from 0 to 60MPH) so neither is the Panda nippy. Servicing will be cheap and parts are readily available but the lack of fifth gear definately affects economy and acceleration and the handling and ride are a bit wobbly/bouncy ...

Advantages: Built like a tank cheap to run parks great Disadvantages: you dont really want impress the girls with it
The Fiat Panda is great run around. In town 400 miles on a tank means you hardly ever need to call in at the petrol station. Not the fastest (does it matter when the traffic cannot go any faster than 30m p h?) it still manages to zip away at junctions and turns into a handy van with a large rear boot access. The back seat is fully removable and increases to boot space enormously.
It has only four gears, a 750cc four pistons engine. The control dashboard ... ...Accessories hang on the edge of the shelf. Standard issue includes only the front single wiper (again I guess to keep the overall cost down?)
This is the perfect inner city car as it uses little petrol and has no trouble fitting into the tightest parking spots.
During my ownership of this car the biggest garage bill I ever paid was £140 for its yearly full service...After about 8 years it started to develop minor electrical faults, and the cooling ...
