Fiat Stilo 2.4 Prestigio

Advantages: Great Specification, Sat Nac, Cruise Controlm Electric Seats
Disadvantages: Some Issues with Airbags Sensors and Tire Wear

...Bought my 2.4 Abarth as an ex-demo model in 2002, overall very pleased with the car. The specification is fantastic for a car of its class, Sat Nav, Electric Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Auto Lights/windscreen wipers, Parking sensors. The 7" colour display in the center console is really impressive, friends cannot believe this car is supposed to be in the same class as a ford focus... Car drives very well and has torque all the way throught the rev range, partuclary nice is putting your foot down at 50mph and feeling the selespeed box drop down a gear you`ll be 80 and beyond before you even realise. Only thing I would say if purchasing one of these second hand, particulary the MK1 (2002) model, is to check the front inside edge of the front tires, Fiat sent all of these out with the Geometry all wrong and it will wear like crazy... ...My experience with my Stilo, which I bought 4 months ago, is somewhat depressing. I have had it in the garage 3 times now. Shortly after I bought the car it started to report airbag failure and also told me, mainly at high speed, that my engine had failed (scary!). I took it into the fiat garage, who cleared some errors off the computer and replaced the sensor on the passenger seat - £180 Next visit to the garage was a couple of months later when the computer light came on and told me I had engine failure, ABS failure and traction control failure. Took it to a non-fiat dealership this time who said it may need a service (and as the MOT had a week or so to run got both done). They told me the spark plugs were mashed even though it had been serviced only 1k miles and 6 months earlier - £150 Two months go by and it runs fine... Read review

Advantages: Excellent gadgets & gizmos built in as standard
Disadvantages: Very unreliable - true off roader so to speak (garaged)

...I have purchased two Fiat Stilos over the past 18 months and both have been from the top end of the range. A Stilo 2.4 20V Arbarth and a 1.8 Dynamic. Both have been lovely cars to drive and own when they have been working, however, there have been many occasions when they have been back to the garage for a day or two while reoccurring problems have had to be fixed/repaired. The Stlio Arbarth and Dynamic come with many gadgets and gizmos such as Sat Nav, memory seats & mirrors, voice activated controls, telephone, sky window, CD players, duel zone climate control are just a few. Too many to even get used to in the first 12 months. The cars have been great fun and can now be picked up for well below the book price. They come with 3 years warranty (but this doesn't mean trouble free motoring). and buying a Stilo 1 or 2 years old is very... Read review
