My Italian love affair

Advantages: Amazing value for money, wonderful to drive
Disadvantages: Fiat's reputation for dealership repairs

...Cheshire. Whilst looking for a Fiat Seicento for my girlfriend we stumbled across a Fiat Stilo with £4999 on the windscreen.

My initial thought was that this seemed too good to be true – surely they’d made a mistake on the price! It was an ‘02’ reg in immaculate condition, a little over two years old with 19,000 miles on the clock. The reason for the low price was because this car was imported from Ireland and therefore didn’t have ...
...bubbly curves found in the Fiat Bravo/Brava (the Stilo’s predecessor) – it’s now straight lines all the way. Altogether, it’s modern and sleek – and if it wasn’t for the Fiat badge you could genuinely think you were sitting in an Audi or BMW. I have no doubt that the interior build quality is on a par with the very best cars that money can buy.

The front seats are roomy and fantastically comfortable and are adjustable in numerous places. ... more

Stilo-ish it aint

Advantages: Spacious, Cheap
Disadvantages: and nasty

Fiat's new Stilo is another new entrant in the small- medium car market. It's competition is the Golf, Arosa, Mini, Focus, Astra type of car and to be honest, I can't see it competing very well with them. We were given it as a hire car for 4 days whilst in Ireland a few weeks back and to be honest, weren't impressed one bit. Looks - Superficially, not great, especially from the rear, it reminded me of a French car from the 80's. You'll notice on ...
...side which make it look better. The 3 door is slightly more refined than the 5 door. 8 colours are available, none of them anything special. Cost & Models - (from fiat.co.uk) from £11,300 - 16135. A lot of money, especially as you can get an imported Golf for nearly the same or a lower range Mini. There are a number of different engine types, from 1.2 - 2.4. The model we had was the 1.6 16v. (but you wouldn't have thought so....) Performance Sluggish, ...

Mamma Mia...

Advantages: Not Much
Disadvantages: Quite Much

...I never bought the Fiat Stilo. I tested it thoroughly for two days during a whole weekend though, in case I would buy it. Result: NO I won't. *** Body : Tired looks. Reminds of the 80's boxy designs. Panel, door and hatch clearances are uneven. In the showroom, I saw water in the taillight of a top model "0 km" Stilo. (The model with that folding glass top and all; don't remember the XL, HGT etc code) Doors do not open and close easily. The dealer ...
...you imagine yourself wearing a Fiat insignia as a medallion so you can drive your car ? The plastics quality is next to that of a Lada Samara or Dacia or an old Skoda Favorit. I was shocked to see that there were plastic shavings on the panel next to the seatbelt adjustment throughs and sunvisor edges. I also uttered an "ouch" when a piece of plastic shaving on the handbrake lever stung my palm. I tried the tablette on the front seat while sitting ...

...a 3-door 1.2l 16v Active Fiat Stilo since May 04 after purchasing one 2nd hand from a local Fiat Dealership. The first thing that struck me was the look of the car, it was ferrari red and had 17 inch stilo alloys and yokohama tyres (not standard). It immediately grabbed my attention. Priced at £5,000 on a 2002 plate and with 19,000 mile on the clock, i was also quietly impressed by the value for money, so much so that i thought there must be a catch ...
...However, i do find the Fiat Dealerships to be quite hard work when it comes to claiming parts under warranty - just beware of that if you buy from them, ensure you know exactly what is covered before you sign the warranty. As alot of my driving is on the motorway, the car takes a fair bit of stick but i have to say i am surprised at the ease with which it has coped. Overall, i would have to recommend this car to you but i would suggest that it ...

Fiat Stilo, the poor mans Golf?

Advantages: Cheap, pretty, plentiful
Disadvantages: Dealerships, dealerships, dealerships.

So here we are, the Fiat Stilo. Now out of production for 2 years, but what a bargain it is for the family tight on money. There's a model to suit every family member, but today we're going to talk about the 1.2 3-door model. The 1.2 3-door model is perfect for the young adult in the family, I still consider myself a young adult, not as young as I was when I first bought my stilo in 2003 but the Stilo is a car I still enojy as much today as when I first purchased it. So whats the car like to drive? In a word pretty good, its not as pointy into corners as a Focus, then its not as uncomfortably rock hard as a Focus either, the Stilo is a good compromise between handling and comfort. When fitted with the optional Fiat 17" alloys it will corner as well as a similarly spec'd Focus, but it won't feel quite as planted. Although I ...

FIAT STILO 'BLUE'

Advantages: SURPRISING POWER AND HANDLING
Disadvantages: NONE AT ALL

I bought this car brand new out of the showroom Pre-Registered for £8,000. To be honest I really pushed myself to buy this car but it was the best thing I ever done. I bought my Stilo as they were bringing the new Bravo back and Fiat were trying to get rid of the Stilo's quickly. It was a Special Edition "Blue" which had a body kit and a Buetooth phone system as well. It definitely looked a lot faster than it was but I was only 17 at the time so the 1.4 engine was plenty big enough but definitely wasn't slow. It had 92bhp and had great handling. I owned this car for 6 months and never had anything bad to say about it. The reason that I don't have it anymore is because I wrote it off which I don't like talking about but I couldn't afford to buy another one but if I did it's defintiely the only car I would get. If you ...

Review of Fiat Stilo 1.4 16v

Fiat - it's a Stilo (a steal! - geddit?)

Advantages: Economical to buy and drive, many added extras and gadgets
Disadvantages: Plenty to go wrong, a bit square to look at

I bought my Fiat Stilo 16v 1.6 Dynamic in May 2006 for £5800 from a private dealer, using the Autotrader website (www.autotrader.co.uk) It was just two years old and billed as 'under 3 year warranty' It is a nice looking car, although quite sensible looking with nice paintwork and alloys. The interior is impressive, with a cloth interior, comfortable seating and the most interesting thing is that the back seats are adjustable to allow either very generous legroom in the back or a very large boot. Even if you go for the middle ground you still have a decent boot size for a hatchback and enough legroom for your average to tall adult. It has nice little touches like cupholders in the rear centre console/armrest and a pull down picnic tray on the back of the passenger seat. It will seat five adults. The front seats are very ...
