The songs here are collected from two 1979 concerts at London's Hammersmith Odeon and Brighton's Dome Theatre. At that time, Cohen was touring in the wake of his Phil-Spector-produced Death Of A Ladies Man album and was, to judge by the performances collected here, on fine form. His voice had not quite plummeted to the crockery-rattling depths captured on I'm Your Man (indeed, on "Memories", he positively yelps), and the backing band, including Jennifer Warnes on backing vocals, are terrific throughout. The songs, of course, are impeccable, including "Lover Lover Lover", "Bird On A Wire", "So Long, Marianne" and "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye". --Andrew Mueller

When I decided I wanted a PSP one of the top purchases on my buying schedule was Field Commander, regardless of all the other style games I enjoy my favourite has to be turned based strategy games. The plot is simple, you have to control an army of soldiers and there vehicles on a variety of missions. Unlike Command & Conquer which was a similar style, Field Commander gives you much more playability through a grand total of 76 missions in basic mode alone; but the playability does not end there, you can play others in your vicinity with PSP consoles (and the game) or connect to the internet via wi-fi and play people from all over the world.
So on playability Field Commander has the potential to beat its closest competitor hands down. Then graphically it takes you to another level; while most of the viewing is seen from above looking down, take your soldiers into battle and you get a close up 3 dimensional view of the fierce battle. The Explosions are phenomenal, you really feel the force of the vehicles going up in flames, whether its yours or an opponents. You also get a feel of buildings and the terrain around you too. You play on land, sea and air through all weathers and all seasons and you get a real feel for the these area's; big epic sea battles are affected by waves and shoals of fish. Battles in snow or in the mountains hinders the ease of movement to your fighters. And just so you don't get bored every other level there is a brand new warrior, weapon or building to tax your brain.
Where Field Commander differs to Command & Conquer is that you don't build bases, you capture buildings only. You have of course a choice over the style of craft you build but this is a no build zone. This at times can be good, but for the most part it's a bit annoying, which is the only downfall of the game. On every other level Field commander is a far more impressive game than any similar titles, and this may help to explain why everyone has been out of stock of this game (with the exception of Game stores) for the last two weeks. For the first time since launch the PSP has a game that will make people want to buy the console just to play the game.
When I began playing Field Commander I zipped through the first 7 or 8 levels with tremendous ease, now some 30 levels on its now incredible difficult going. Its no longer straightforward and rather like real life battles one false move could cause you to suffer dearly.
Field Commander is available to buy from £29.99-£34.99 the first price is from Play.com but as previously warned they have been out of stock for a week or two.
Field Commander has been my most played game since purchase of my PSP and a variety of other games, with battles ranging from 10 minutes to 3 hours, this game is incredibly hard to tire of.
Advantages: Great gameplay, addictive, longevity Disadvantages: Can be repetitive
Field Commander for the Sony PSP is a first for this handheld - a turn based combat game. If you've ever played Advance Wars on the Gameboy Advance then this will be very familiar to you. Basically you this is a turn based strategy game where you are orchestrating the theatre of war in various scenarios. Graphics - the graphics are good, not real eye candy, but are well representative of this type of game. The menu screens are sharp and actual gameplay ... ...- various war effects i.e. bangs, crashes and explosions speech and good theme music
Gameplay - very addictive after short tutorial will always leave you wanting for just one more play
Longevity - this will last you at least one month's solid play in the single player mode and almost unlimited fun whilst playing online
Controls - fairly straightforward make full use of all the buttons and analogue stick
Multiplayer - you can either play against ...
