In the offices where I work is a training room. In this training room exists Caffeine regulatory device (aka a coffee machine, of the large industrial size), this machine is hired out to us at no charge except that it is reasoned that we will purchase coffee from the company supplying the machine. The boss decided that in his part of the offices he would find benefit from having another device. I suggested that it might be better if he purchased a filter coffee machine from Argos as the prices for these has really dropped in recent years and that they do look better than the monstrosity that is in the training room. A few days later a new rather smart looking mini beastie appeared and after some serious testing I hereby submit my views on the Morphy Richards Rapide (Model No. 47473).
How many cups.. This machine (most machines nowadays make up to twelve cups) makes up to ten cups and has a gauge on the side to assist with filling.
What’s a coffee strength indicator?? This machine has one of these, it is a dial that can be set anywhere between Strong and Light. This is supposed to help you get the right strength of coffee for your personal taste (mine is always strong and as I am tasteless I do not really use this). On further investigation the dial regulates how fast the water passes over the filter coffee thereby allowing a choice of varying strengths.
The Rapide element. Morphy Richards claim that this makes perfect coffee in about ½ the normal time. Excuse the sceptic in me but, this depends on how many cups and the setting of the afore mentioned “coffee strength indicator”.
Reusable permanent filter. This is yet another feature that is standard on most machines nowadays, it is great for those wishing to avoid the expense of filter papers. On a personal note I tend to still use paper filters as these are a lot less messy, simply drop used filter with associated coffee straight into bin, no trying to rinse coffee dregs from the reusable filter.
This is a tidy looking machine, with a two year guarantee and a retail price in the region of £25, I consider it good value for money.
Another thing that should never be over looked is these coffee machine can only ever be as good as the type of coffee used, with that in mind I have tried loads and loads of different brands. I will not give a preference, as that is really a matter of personal taste. With that in mind happy supping.
Advantages: Strong coffee in a flash Disadvantages: Subtle : see below
...You will notice the removable filter (mesh type thing) sitting in the percolator well, on top of the percolator spout. Remove this, as it is no good to man nor beast. Due to the fact that this type of mesh stains terribly when in contact with coffee, you will soon learn that it is much more practical to buy paper filters, rather than having to soak the permanent one all the time.
You do not need to remove the spout assembly from the main body of ... ...and have placed a paper filter (not supplied) containing coffee grounds in the spout assembly.
Now close the lid.
Before turning the machine on at the plug, ensure that the coffee jug is placed on the hotplate, directly below the spout spigot, with the handle easily accessible.
Now turn on.
Just below the coffee jug, you will notice an orange light come on. This means that the coffee is beginning to percolate, and just a few seconds later, you ...

...Comet and purchased the Proline Filter Coffee Maker. It was a bargain at £7.99.
It’s nothing special; nothing flash, it doesn’t come with whistles and bells. There are two colour options, black and white but the best bit is that the filter never needs replacing. All you do is wash it between uses, couldn’t be easier.

About five minutes later and a lot of gurgling noises it’s made a good pot of hot coffee. The smell is amazing. That’s it, so easy and quick.
The hot plate doesn’t keep the coffee red hot during the day, once you have added the milk it becomes quite cool. That’s the only downside to it. The aroma and taste ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Filter Coffee Maker"
Advantages: Stylish, easy to use, cheap Disadvantages: Coffee could be a little hotter for milk takers ?
And with this Hinari FilterCoffeeMaker, I can make my coffee exactly like that.
I have recently returned from Spain and over there they make proper coffee. None of this instant stuff. They make the sort that you can almost stand your spoon upright in. Of course, most of it is espresso, but unfortunately, I no longer have an espresso machine and instead have to make do with a filtercoffeemaker. Anyway, the coffee in Spain gave me a taste for " proper " coffee and so on my return, I looked towards the corner of the kitchen where my coffeemaker lives, and smiled lovingly at it. Then I retrieved a brand new packet of Columbian ground coffee out of the cupboard, and away I went !
Our original filtercoffeemaker was received as a wedding present almost 9 years ago. I can't believe that I've been married for almost 9 years, but I ...
Advantages: A very eye-catching, modern design producing great coffee Disadvantages: Annoying technical problems
When the little coffeemaker my husband had had for many years finally died on us, we experienced unexpected difficulties in finding a suitable replacement. One machine, bought at the local supermarket, was so badly put together that the panel containing the controls was coming off before we even got to use it. Having returned this, we then proceeded to buy another from our local Woolworth's, their own brand. Well, that one was cheap... Cheap in price and unfortunately quality and the jug, made of very thin glass, smashed the first time we washed it.
After this run of bad luck, when our new Hinari machine arrived (mail order), we were delighted when we took it out of the box. It looked great! This being an espresso/cappuccino and filtercoffeemaker, it was bigger than what we had previously (about 22cmx43cm). As worktop ...
Advantages: Price, features Disadvantages: Hotplate "cooks" the coffee
other full-size coffeemaker. It has a lid on the top, which you lift on hinges to reveal the receptacle for the cold water. This is in translucent plastic with a grading on the side from two to twelve cups. It is an interesting shape, a sort of triangle rounded at the edges, which means it is wider at the sides, making it easier to fill. The carafe is clear glass, and there is a large red button at the front which lights up when the machine is on.
EASE OF USE
This is one of the easiest machines I have ever used. As I noted, filling it with water is easy. In the centre of the water receptacle is the filter basket. The Hinari comes with a reusable filter, incredible for the price. The nozzle which showers water onto the coffee swings away (over the cold water) to make it easy to remove and fill the basket. (Actually, one of the secrets ...
