...to write a review on Final Fantasy 7 (FF7), but I have found it so hard because to review a game this good I feel that I really need to make a review that isn't just another boring review that doesn't live up to the game. It was released in 1997 and in England it was quite unknown, the public had only heard of final fantasy from other reviews from Japan, raving about this series ...

Advantages: Astonishing scale, fantastic visuals, grand soundtrack, absorbing plot, massively rewarding
Disadvantages: Random battles make for some slow-moving sections

...to the 1997 release of Final Fantasy VII, role-playing video games weren't really a part of the mainstream market. Sure, the Zelda's and Wonderboy's had gained a good cult-following in the past, but the game world was in need of a new kind of RPG - one made in three dimensions. It's 1997, and Squaresoft have been beavering away at the seventh instalment to their long-running Final Fantasy series for quite some time. It would be the first part of ...
...gamble paid off however - Final Fantasy VII has sold more than 10,000,000 units worldwide. The rest, as they say, is history. Final Fantasy VII sees you assuming control of the ex-SOLDIER member Cloud Strife - a mysterious bloke with a passion for ridiculously big swords and a magnificent, spikey-blond hairdo that even David Beckham couldn't compete with. Cloud teams up with a group of rebels who are part of the group AVALANCHE, and must destroy ...

Life, Love, Adventure And Final Fantasy

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: Linearity, some parts are really strange, longer battles can be dull

As things stand, the long-running Final Fantasy series of video games is in its tenth incarantion (With number 11 currently in development). As the groan-worthy pun goes "It's not very Final is it?" Well I'm thankful that the series has come this far. Each game entirely unique in terms of plot and characters, yet with enduring themes that anybody can spot after a while. But, in a similar way to R.E.M my interest was only piqued just over halfway ...
...Unlike many PC role-playing games Final Fantasy 7 is relatively speaking, quite straight-forward. Strangely enough, this doesn't bother me because there is enough here to make the game quite immersive. For the purposes of battles the main characters are all quite similar, although some are better at magic than others etc. The battles are turn-based (I.e you make a decision to attack the enemy or heal your fellow battlers) so they aren't particularly ...

...generated reigns the series called Final Fantasy. The series started out on the late Nintendo consoles and at the moment I don't really care too much for the earlier ones (some graphics can really be just too outdated), Final Fantasy VI is a great play though on the Playstation ported over from the SNES. Come 1997 and Final Fantasy VII is released for the Sony Playstation (it feels much older than it is). I guess the reason for the switchover is ...
...with only limited capacities. Final Fantasy 7 has a lot of plot, character development and fantastical worlds to explore alongside epic in-game videos and musical compositions. I feel a much more personal involvement in Final Fantasy VII in the sense that it doesn't show a glossy hype and that I'm in the game under my control as opposed to big movies and even books. The game opens with a credits screen which plays a new memorable version of the ...

PLAY There is some good storytelling (switching of camera shots) as well as bad (playing through largely linear memory sections), but the dialogue sees to sloppy grammar, and has its fair share of typos. The Cloud in my sky that I love

Advantages: Amazing game, timeless, enjoyable and moving story
Disadvantages: Emerald and Ruby are HARD.

...to say I love the final fantasy series and, like many fans, my favourite is the seventh. I first played final fantasy 7 in 2005 despite it being eight years old but after playing final fantasy 10 and having this one recommended to me I decided to give it a go. Here is what I thought. ==The Plot== Final Fantasy 7 focuses on a resistence group called Avalanch who are fighting against the Shinra incorporation - a company that runs the city of Midgar ...
...In regards to the plot Final Fantasy has one of the most complex and involving storylines and, as said above, is a favourite to the large fan base. No other game has been able to come close to the level of magic and success that 7 created. It is the most user friendly game in the series, the most rewarding and possibly the longest when including all the hidden activities. It is spread over three discs and it will take you on a journey in your living ...

A Masterpiece

Advantages: Great storyline and graphics
Disadvantages: Battle system hard to get used to

Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation was good for a while but I soon bored of it and never finished it. However, I still wanted to get Final Fantasy VIII and did not regret it afterwards. The graphics are good for a Playstation game (especially in the 'videos') and the complex storyline is outstanding once you have got into it. As with FFVII it took me a while to get used to the battle system but I after a while I did not mind it (although it gets annoying when you're going into battles every couple seconds which can happen). The battle system is one where you are attacked at random times by one or more monsters, but always outside of towns and cities. Monsters are not normally visible before they attack so battles come suddenly and without warning. The actual fighting is turn-based, meaning that the enemy cannot attack you while you ...

A damn good game

Advantages: One of the bets RPGs ever
Disadvantages: Not as good asFF7

Final fantasy VII was voted the best playstation game for over 2 years running. Then Final Fantasy VIII held magazine headlines for about a year, but does it live up to expectations that Final Fantasy VII had set. Although the graphics and engine have greatly improved the 8th game lacks what the seventh exceld in, THE GRIPPING STORY LINE. Although the story is good there is a lot of slow moving parts which really let it down. Final fantasy 8 beats every RPG game except for its first game, the music is worst along with the story and lack of different enimes. FF8 gets a fantastic 8 outta 10. ...

FFVIII

Advantages: Better than FFVII
Disadvantages: None

Final Fantasy 7 was one of the most important and popular games on the playstation when it was released a few years ago. Final Fantasy 8 may be a sequel but it has a completely different plot and a whole set of new characters, Final Fantasy 8 follows the adventures of Squall and Rinoa. Final Fantasy 8 has some mind blowing pre rendered graphics and is easily one of the most impressive video games ever made. The game is absolutely huge and will take you weeks of solid playing to complete. An absolute classic. ...
