The walkthrough for Final Fantasy xii is the best and most detailed walkthrough yet from Piggyback. It covers every speck of detail of the game from the smallest things like what colour a monster's hair is to the biggest detail like how much HP the final boss has. These are things you wouldn't normally know if you didn't buy the walkthrough. It costs £14.99 in shops.

For gamers of final fantasy I suggest that you buy the game first, finish it then buy the walkthrough and finish it again. This is because its more fun this way and in the walkthrough it tells you all about the secrets and the fun of looking for them is gone.
This is a very thick walkthrough but every page is useful for the gamer. There are exactly 337 pages of information with a few extra pages with beautiful pictures from the game and characters. The book is split into 8 sections: Basics, Tactics, Characters, Inventory Bestiary, Walkthrough, Extras and Index. Some of the sections are split into sub-sections. The walkthrough is very organised and makes gaming as easy as possible. -Basics This chapter introduces the basic features and functions of Final Fantasy xii and should be considered an overview of what to expect to the encounter during the first few hours of play. It deals not only with controls and on screen displays, but also offers advice on menu options and gameplay concepts. Some of the features mentioned in this section aren't available right from the start. The section is split into 5 sub sections. They are (in the order of the book) Basic Controls, The game Screen, Party Menu, Battle Menu and Basic Tips. The basic control goes through the controls of the game. The game screen explains all the figures that appear in the game when you're inside a town, when you're in a battle and when you're viewing the main map. This section is really useful as something's in the game are new and some are really complicated. The party menu is quite important. It explains what you can do with it like equipping and changing order, plus it explains the new systems of licensing and gambits. It also explains other options like inventory, world map and the clan primer, which is also a new feature in the game.. The battle menu goes through the options you have in a fight and what you have to do. Finally the basic tips gives you extra tips that can help you improve the quality of gaming.
-Tactics This section is one of the most important in the book. It's split into 5 sections. They are Combat, Developing Characters, Travels in Ivalice, Licences and Gambits. The combat part shares all the tactics that will make you most powerful and it also lists all the ailments in the game. Developing characters explains what the name suggests. It talks about how you can improve all your characters. Travels in Ivalice shows where all the save speres are and where you can buy maps from, as well as other important factors. The licence and gambits explain the 2 systems in detail and also explain the new espers which are like spirits.
-Characters This chapter introduces the main characters that you control throughout the game, guests that join your party for a while and support characters that fight by your side. This section delves into the characters history so you can understand them better and get to know why they're ndergoing this adventure. My favourite characters are Vaan and Ashe.
-Inventory This chapter lists every single item and ability that your party can acquire in Final Fantasy xii. From weapons to consumable items, accessories to loot. You'll find all your questions about all the items answered in the series of tables listed in this section.
-Bestiary This section reveals valuable information on the hundreds of potential assailants you can encounter during your travels through Ivalice. To make it easier the monsters are listed in the order they appear in you clan primer.
-Walkthrough This is the most important section in the book. This chapter not only contains a full step to step guide to completing Final Fantasy xii, but also features comprehensive information on its many side quests, secrets and hidden rewards. It has been designed to be used by players of all abilities, and has unique 'three tier' system that will enable you to choose the level of assistance you require from simple, spoiler free at the start of the sections to detailed guidance with optional side quests, features and tips appearing in separate boxes. As this section contains a lot of information it has a 'using the walkthrough' section at the start explaining how to use it.
-Extras The are a total of 21 extras in Final Fantasy xii. This chapter explains all of them thoroughly. The main walkthrough tells you where they start in the game, but this section tells you what to do in them. This section contains a lot of spoilers.
-Index the final section of the book. It does what it does in all other books.
Overall, this is a brilliant walkthrough and it really helped me to do all the secrets and understand the game fully. I would recommend all FF games to buy this walkthrough.
