A great magazine (not just for economists!)

Advantages: useful with a variety of different issues from politics to economics, to world affairs
Disadvantages: A rather big price tage at £3.90 (but a subscriptipn brings massive savings)

...A-level and have throughly enjoyed the subject and found it very interesting on a personal level and particularly as it is key in every business, government and country. I am now looking to read economics at university and it was therefore suggested that i start reading the economist. I have since subscribed to the economist for a year and after having been reading it for a few months now have really enjoyed it. The economist is a magazine (newspaper ...
...really want to know what the economist is all about, and from the title you can guess that economics plays a major role in the magazine. However, in my view it is definitely more than a simple magazine, but a very informative and useful "newspaper" with a variety of different current affairs issues. It is written by economists and includes issues about politics, and has separate sections for a variety of different countries, it of course has a section ...

In Praise of ... The FT

Advantages: This is the best quality paper in Britain
Disadvantages: None

I love the F.T. I first started reading it about six years ago to check the price of some shares my parents gave me, and I have been reading it faithfully ever since. It's not just that it's taught me everything I know about finance, but I also feel it's the most neutral, least politically biased newspaper published in Britain. First some background: The Financial Times was first published in 1888 and adopted the distinctive salmon coloured paper ...
...In 1997, it launched the US edition and by 1998 it became the first UK-based paper to sell more copies internationally than in the UK. FT Deutchland which is in German, was launched in 2000. The Financial Times is rated higher than the Wall Street Journal, primarily because it is so accurate, authoritative and neutral (the Wall Street Journal by contrast has a neo-conservative slant and is not trusted in Asia and Europe). Rumour has it that the F.T. ...

Chronicle for the Chronically Obsessed...

...gone and all serious private investors are now on-line, but there are always those danger points in life where I simply can’t get to the internet and on these rare occasions I buy Investors Chronicle. ***************************************************** Investors Chronicle, as the rather dry name implies, is a publication by the respected Financial Times group and retails for £3.25 for each weekly copy. Unlike its rival Shares magazine, Investors ...
...Sectors ******* Most investors want to have a balance of sectors within their portfolio so that the eggs are not all in the same basket but also naturally gravitate to those sectors that they know most about. Investors Chronicle is a useful tool for genning up on those sectors that make you feel less comfortable. This week there is an explanation on the difference between value added and knowledge-based industries, and there is an in-depth look ...

Are You Bullish or Bearish!!!

Advantages: Great Hints and Tips On Stock Market Investing
Disadvantages: Expensive

...to mention his copy of shares magazine beside him. I have to admit I think that most of his success has been down to shares magazine in all honesty and not as he puts it in his natural talent and ability to be able to read the stock market. This review is about his precious shares magazine. My biggest love rival!!!! Shares is a weekly magazine which was founded in 1999. It has won a number of awards and its mission statement is "champion of the private ...
...the point. The purpose of shares is to take a weekly look at all aspects of the stock market an area I have to say I am not too expert in although I do hold a few stocks and shares of my own. I do however read shares weekly as it is a fascinating insight into this high-flying world and I have to say I thoroughly enjoy it. Who knows I might find the next google to invest in and make my millions one day. So what do you get with each issue? Well it ...
