...about a new product by Finish that I could put into my machine and it would "Eliminate grease and Lime scale".
Finish dishwasher products are well known and trusted so I searched the shelf in Tesco and found this little bottle which was going to perform a miracle on my dishwasher. Quite pricey if I remember rightly about £3.50, but I popped it into my trolley and decided to give it a try.
The dishwasher washed ... ...
The producers - Finish suggest you use the product every month for optimum results. (I didn't do this so maybe the grease would have got less over the following months.)
Call me mean if you like but I would rather use my Jif and save up my £3.50s because in a year I will have £42.00, so will be able to buy a new dishwasher after a few years!
Dishwashers are very much a part of our busy lives. I have had a couple of different machines during the last 22 years, the first was bought when as a mother of 3 young children I was very ill and standing at the sink washing dishes was a exhausting. But, although some people say they would rather enjoy the companionship of doing the dishes together, actually it is far more hygienic to use a dishwasher than wash and dry dishes. Fact. A used, damp tea towel can harbour up to 30,000,000,000,000 (30 trillion) colonies of bacteria - such is the rate at which bacteria multiply. Fact. Dishwashers will reduce the spread of germs. A dishwasher is washing the dishes in temperatures of 50-70°C, a far higher temperature than hands can tolerate
But to enable it to do its job and keep your dishes sparkling clean the machine must be kept clean, free from grease and lime scale. We are fortunate and live in a soft water area in Scotland, but I know of friends and family who suffer with lime building up in their machines. It can block the water jets in the rotary arms and leave mineral deposits on your dishes and cutlery. Lime scale may not be a problem, but grease certainly is and a horrible layer has formed on the rubber seal at the base of the door. I usually wipe it with some Jif cleaner and have tried various sprays but the grease has actually baked on during the high temperatures and is really hard to remove. My dishwasher is elderly and has washed hundreds of loads of dishes, and I am keen to keep it working. The interior metal glistens, the outside is showing a little wear and tear, but not too bad, but as hygiene is important, the grease worried me, so I was so pleased to read about a new product by Finish that I could put into my machine and it would "Eliminate grease and Lime scale".

The dishwasher washed my dishes, and for the first time in ages I was keen to empty it! It is a job no-one likes in our house, possibly even worse than drying dishes, as it involves finding a home for the dishes which seem to multiply when they are getting washed!
The bottle contains 250ml of liquid containing natural orange and lemon oils. Naturally, I could not smell it as the bottle was sealed, and I was not sure if sniffing would be dangerous, as there is a warning to keep away from children, to keep away from eyes, and not to mix with other products. Not to ingest, but if ingested to seek medical advice. I had read the instructions and peeled off the sticky label over the cap on the bottle, and placed the bottle upside down in the cutlery tray. There was a wax seal, which prevented the liquid running out, but which I presumed melted during the process. Little pictures helped make the instructions really clear. The cycle was to be at least a minimum 65degree C, so I choose the hottest one.
The wonderful smell of citrus fruits greeted me when I walked into the kitchen to check the progress. I was picturing this little bottle of liquid working hard inside my machine. I knew I didn't have a lime scale problem, so all it had to do was get rid of the grease and leave my machine sparkling clean and ready to wash the next load of dishes.
At last it had finished! With bated breathe, I opened the door. Gleaming bright! Wonderful, fresh smelling. Fantastic, I thought well worth the money. I knelt down, and ran my hand along the seal. Oh YUK! The grease was still there. It had left all the metalwork gleaming, but didn't have appeared to have sorted out the grease problem. Discouraged, I set to with my faithful Jif cleaner and a cloth and removed some grease, perhaps it was a little easier to remove, but that could have been the effect of the hotter wash.

Advantages: Degreases, de limescales, and sanitises dishwashers improving sanitariness and performance Disadvantages: cost, and dishwasher has to be ran empty
...clean your dishes better. Enter Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. This little bottle of citrusy wonders may seem quite pricey at £3.50, but compared to the cost of replacing a dishwasher, it is peanuts. The dishwasher may get hot, but if you have allowed your filter to remain unsanitised and the grease to remain, slime builds and bacteria can still breed. Not a great picture, and the results are one that I don't mind forking the £3.50 for to avoid.
At ... ...went away after my friend Finish got done with it!
I actually use this every other month, as we only run the machine once a day max. Everytime do, the performance of my machine goes back to as new. Do I need to use it monthly as suggested? If you use your dishwasher more often, have an older machine, or live in a hard water area, I would, yes. It seems obvious by my results it cleans parts of the machine I cannot see and probably am best not trying ...

...than hands can very handle. Finish dishwasher detergent is also a lot stronger than washing up liquid and contains ingredients which ensure food soils are broken down and washed away during the washing cycle, so in our case that's a good job.
As a result of this Finish detergent ensures a far higher standard of cleanliness than could be achieved by hand washing alone. This means that harmful bacteria are destroyed which may not have been is just ... ...and lime scale, but New Finish Fusion Power Dishwasher Cleaner is the world's first dual layered dishwasher cleaner.
The blue layer is specially designed to remove grease while the transparent layer removes lime scale build-ups, leaving your dishwasher working to the best of its ability. ...effectively I tend to use finish dishwasher cleaner the fusion power version of the product. This item can be purchased in most supermarkets and costs around the £2 mark for a 250ml bottle. Please note however that one bottle equals one wash however I only ever do this job once or twice a year so I tend to not grudge paying the money too much. Put it this way getting a new dishwasher would be costly if its not cared for. The bottle is quite compact ... ...build up in your dishwasher. Finish fusion power apparently has two layers which can be seen when you hold the product up to the light a bright blue top layer and a transparent white bottom layer. I think I must have been using this over the years with my eyes closed as I had only ever noticed the blue colour. Anyway I digress the blue layer is responsible for eliminating grease while the white liquid limescale. You learn something new everyday. ...

Quick review of Finish Dishwasher Cleaner
I used this to clean my dishwasher and it actually caused my dishwasher to stop working. I had to call out a repairman who cost me £100 to tell me that these things actaully don't work. He recommended a bi-annual clean with a salt cleaner you can get at any DIY store. Quite an expensive lesson if you ask me. I would not recommend this product. ...

I used this product and it produced good results
However Hotpoint have a professional product that is one third of the price(less than £1 per month).
At this economic time I would definatly buy the Hotpoint Product as 1 years worth of cleaning your dishwasher would cost you £36 for the finish product compared to just £12 for the Hotpoint one ...

THIS OP IS ABOUT THEIR ¨NEW¨ ORANGE 3 IN 1 TABLETS?
We picked up our new orange smelling tablets at our local Sainsbury?s and paid about £6.00 for the 48 tablets.
The box is typical of a finish product ? blue with the word ?finish? as large as it can get on the front. In the left hand corner you?re told that the box contains 3 in 1 brilliant tablets. While in small writing in the opposite corner the contents of the box are shown ? in this case 48.

bowl, time after time!
Summary:
After four years of gravies, cheeses, meats, burnings and whatever else, I have some very clean and shiny dishes without scratches and you cant tell my cutlery isnt brand new! Again, I am not exaggerating as this would just destroy the whole point of the review. In fact, if I knew how to add piccies, I would show the piccy of the bowl, cutlery and china in question. These tablets are a sheer joy! And although finish makes other products that probably work just as well, such as rinse aids, and dishwashercleaners, I don't find them one bit necessary. Even my dishwasher literally SHINES at the end of a cycle. I am pleased as punch with these little beauties. ...
