Firefly - why Joss Whedon is God

Advantages: Wit, charm, Joss Whedon humour, quality.
Disadvantages: No more to come

last saw as a squire in 'A Knight's Tale' threatening Chaucer with pain, and a 'companion' (prostitute) who lends a guise of respectability to the often illegal activities of the crew! This series was ill-fated. Fox cancelled it. Joss Whedon hopes to see a feature film made out of 'Firefly' and I'm sure I do too. But otherwise, after fourteen wonderful episodes this is all there is, and it's all here on this DVD collection. The combination of cowboys with Colt 45s and rustled cattle with the high tech world of space-travel in a multicultural future where everyone can speak Chinese as well as English is vastly different to the Star Trek universe and the Star Wars type of movie, but it's compelling stuff.. Firefly: The Show That Could Have Been

Advantages: One of the best shows by Joss Whedon...
Disadvantages: ...cancelled before it can get "bigger"

Firefly!

Advantages: collects every episode of the famed Firefly series into one boxed set
Disadvantages: what disadvantages?

and fuel in his ship. His crew too are believable and flawed characters, a few being fugitives on the run. No laser guns, instead people use guns(and Mal tends to shoot first and ask questions later). Gone are ships 'whooshing' through space, the makers deciding that Newtonian physics were not only more realistic but would also add an interesting qualtiy to this revolutionary show. It's s a shame that those morons at Fox network cancelled it. However don't be put off by this, at only 14 episodes Firefly still makes an outstanding piece of entertainment, and has plenty of special features to keep you glued to the screen for a few more hours. These include documentaries on the making of the series with interviews with the cast and producers, including comments from the creator Joss Whedon who is of Buffy the vampire slayer fame.
