First for mistakes.....

Advantages: Interest Rates, advisor was friendly
Disadvantages: Regultion nightmare, hidden fee's (which are against regulations!)

Calling them and getting through was straight forward enough, no major queue to wait through and a nice friendly chap answered the phone and took me through the details needed to complete the application. Now at ...

He went through my income, and while I knew that it was a bit of a stretch on standard multipliers, it was far from impossible as my income is actually still quite good from my job. Also, I have a lodger and as well as that my ... more

First Active - annoying advert; great rates

Advantages: Good interest rates
Disadvantages: Cheesy adverts; flawed internet sign up

...Having just remortgaged to First Active I have mixed views over the process... Selecting ======== Checking the latest offers, FA offer an excellent rate on 3 types of mortgages (tracker, fixed, discount). We opted for the tracker which is pegged to Bank of England base rate for 3 years (currently 4.75%). The only minus is that they tie you in with an early redemption penalty for the life of the discount. The big plus is that all the offers are ...
...not have to move mortgages to another lender to get the best rates. Applying ======= I completed the internet form fairly easily. It allows you to save and return so that you can gather details and check numbers before submitting. A nice status display shows what you have yet to complete. You are able to see how likely they are to lend to you based on your entered requirements. The process requires all lending to be included but it is not clear ...

First active, first class rates and deals

Advantages: good discount rates, good variable rate, helpful staff
Disadvantages: average conveyencing firm, online application flawed

...mortgage magazines I decided on First Active. The main reasons were a very good discount rates, good variable rate after the initial discount period and the also website was very easy to understand. I plumped for a 5-year tracker discount rate, which means whatever the Bank of England rate is for the next five years is the rate I pay. After this period my rate reverts to the Bank of England rate +1.10%. First Active also offers other good deals, ...
...I did need to ring First Active to clarify a couple of points, the help line staff where both speedy and knowledgeable which was a good plus point for me. After completing the online application I received various forms through the post, Unfortunately some of the information given online had been omitted and I had fill in the missing information, which was a bit off a drawback. Because of the slightly complex nature of my remortgage I had to ring ...

First Active Mortgages

Advantages: Excellent Interest Rate
Disadvantages: Poor correspondence

...took out a mortgage with First Active in October 2005, I used an independant mortgage advisor and they returned the best results. The fees were £300 for a level 2 Property Inspection and £95 start-up fee. The interest rate is guaranteed for 2 years to be 0.05 above the base rate, obviously its a variable rate. I would say the overall package offered by First Active was good on paper but they struggled to match this with their customer service. For ...
...and the mortgage pack was nicely laid out in a folder and easy to read. The best advice I could give is that I recomment First Active but you should really keep on top of them by phoning them frequently to ensure they're doing everything they need to. ...

1st time buyer - 1st active did the job!

Advantages: easy to understand, quick, very competitive, 100% available
Disadvantages: higher lending charge, think thats average

As a first time buyer, I had spent months browsing endlessly on the Internet for the best deals. It all seems very complicated when your new to it all, rates, flexible, capped etc. My requirements narrowed lenders down quite a bit, as I required a 100% mortgage and the fact I was under the age of 21, therfor i was a bit sceptical when browsing, as I had never heard of many of the names advertised, but at the same time Id never been looking for mortgages ...
...a bit more time then first active gave me a 30 year option. They are also very helpful, and if you cant be bothered to call them they have an online chat facility if you have any queries, and you can send the chat log to an email address which is quite handy if you cant remember any important details. Now getting down to the business, taking on the mortgage. In my experience they were very helpful, and in my experience 1st class. My solicitor ...

Quick review of First Active Mortgages

I took out a mortgage with First Active in June 2006 through an independent Financial adviser - I was looking for long term fixed rate at a low interest rate and got 5.19%25 fixed for 5 years with a £429 fee - long term stability was what I was looking for - annual statements are clear and concise - suitable for the lay person -= wholly a product I am very happy with ...
