test? The First Response test is so sensitive that most pregnant women have enough of the pregnancy hormone, hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), to be detected as early as6days before their expected period. Therefore, you can use theFirst Response Early Pregnancy Testas early as6days before you expect your period. For example, if you expect your period on the 21st day of the month, you can test as early as the 17th day of the month. The amount of pregnancy hormone increases as pregnancy progresses. In clinical testing, First Response detected hormone levels consistent with pregnancy in 62% of women 5 days before their expected period, in 78% of women 4 days before their expected period, in 87% of women 3 days before their expected period and in 98% of women 2 days before their expected period. Advantages: easy to use, extremely cheap, Very early accurate results Disadvantages: A right devil to open, which way the window should be on, Using the second one before I went back to the bin to retrieve the first one, what I would have done with the second one though,I haven't a clue

The box is nicely sealed in a cellophane wrap, not that anyone would want to pre pee on it, but you can never be sure LOL.
On opening the box, the instructions seem to be quite straightforward; either wee on the stick for a second, or wee into a receptacle and dip the stick for a couple of seconds.

Now, you may think that there is very little difference in pregnancy test kits, especially when they are on cheap in the pound shop. This is where you would be totally wrong. One quick piddle on the stick should provide the answer once and for always. Planned from the outset number six would be a wonderful addition to our family.
Now you would have thought that with my old hand experience even I could do this with out a glitch. Now comes the fun bit, unwrapping the darn thing without dropping it down the loo. I must say it was certainly well wrapped, again for hygiene, only this time in a bite resistant tear resistant foil wrapper, which you need to be Lennox Lewis to undo. After going four rounds with it I finally managed to prise it open, by now thoroughly bursting!!!! . It doesn’t look any different to any other test, something like an empty maker pen with a large window.(More will be revealed later<grin>) A small wee later and a lot of waiting, nothing appeared to have happened, so moaning and groaning I binned the whole thing.
Feeling more nauseous than ever I decided to do the second one a few hours later, wee and wait, and wait and wait, damn duff cheap tests I thought, and promptly dropped it like a hot brick, this time it turned over, to reveal the skeleton like underside and two lines. This is why the grin earlier.
Now a full description, in my haste I didn’t thoroughly examine the stick to start with. The stick looked exactly like an empty marker pen that is about 4 inches long, the type with the extra broad nib, with a protective cover on the end. It is quite thin and even has a thumb grip(Duh) The underside is just plain white, and the top is clear obviously the place that contains the reactive bit, enclosed in this part is what appears to be a piece of litmus type paper which absorbs the wee and a small amount of pink dye. If you are pregnant two lines will appear in the front window, if you are not just it will be just the one.
So I guess that this is my way of announcing the forthcoming arrival of our newest addition in December.
Any suggestions for a name, we have already used all of the initials in our surname!!!!!!
Cheapest is not always best, but good for a laugh though!!!!
Advantages: Comparable in price to other pregnancy tests Disadvantages: It does not always give accurate results
...I’m going to talk about First Response – a test that failed me when it most mattered with (as yet) unknown consequences.
++ WHY FIRST RESPONSE? ++
First Response is so-called because it claims to be able to tell you if you are pregnant up to three days before your expected period. Most other pregnancy tests have to be done after your due date. Theoretically then, if you are desperate to know if you are pregnant, this test should be able to tell ... ...… ++
The First Response test claims to be 99% accurate. In my experience, it was not that (unless I am the 1%!). I was keen to know as early as possible if I was pregnant, because I planned on taking some valium for a flight and later in the week to have a few drinks. The First Response test said that I was not pregnant. So, I took the valium and alcohol. It turns out that I am pregnant, so now I face huge amounts of anxiety about whether the valium ...

Advantages: Very accurate and can test BEFORE period due Disadvantages: Quite pricey
...want to call it, my first child is on it’s way! Hindsight is a great thing now that I wish that I had bought this test first, but I didn’t as it was the most expensive (£8.75 Boots) and when you feel fairly sure that there is a visitor in your tummy you tend to plump for cheap and cheerful, just to confirm your thoughts, unfortunately for me, cheap and cheerful was inaccurate for me this time so it cost me twice as much in the end!
First Response ... ...reason that they are cheaper.
First Response can also be used at any time of day, not just the morning and claims that it is as accurate as any doctors test, being over 99% accurate in laboratory tests
The test itself was very straightforward, just remove the stick from it’s wrapper, take off the cap, hold it either in the urine stream for 5 seconds or dip it into a sample you have collected in a dry cup previously for 5 seconds, replace the cap ...

Advantages: Easy to use - Early results Disadvantages: A bit more expensive (but worth it!)
...a name I trusted - First Response. I had heard good things about it on a pregnancy message board I visited, but didn't buy it at first because I thought a different brand would give me the result sooner. I should have gone with my instincts because the First Response showed a positive result the first try! It was easy to use - just dip the stick in the urine stream and wait a few minutes. You don't have to collect urine in a cup and pour, which can ... ...can't rely on the results until you have missed your period. I just couldn't wait and was willing to keep buying tests until I got a positve or started my period!
I will definately buy First Repsonse again if the need ever arises! ...

Advantages: Reliable, Easy To Use, Good Value For Money Disadvantages: None
First response for me has to be the most reliable pregnancy test on the market. Not only is it reasonably priced this test can be used up to 4 days before your period is due. I used this test 3 days before my period was due and it was at night and i got a clear positive result. I find this test reliable, good value for money and quick and simple to use. I've never had a false positive or a false negetive result while using this test and i would reccomend ...
