Advantages: Durable, Colourful, Fun, lots of features Disadvantages: Songs a bit repetitive
When my little boy had his 1st birthday we had some money given for him. What to buy? Well we kitted him out with some new clothes and had £30 left over. So off to Toys R Us we went.
I had seen this train advertised about 9 months ago when he was obviously far too young for it. Since then I had forgotten about it and so when I saw it in the shop for £29.99 I thought why not!
Included in the pack is a train engine with ... ...and a monkey.

Included in the pack is a train engine with an attachable carriage. You also get a giraffe, an elephant and a monkey.
-The engine-
The train engine is bright red in the main, with yellow wheels and buffer to the front. There are blue sections down the sides and the face of the engine is also blue. On the top is the funnel which is green and two rails down the sides are also green. The rails have different coloured leaves attached which spin around and slide along. The engine has a compartment which is for the girrafe to stand in. This has a tray in the bottom which triggers songs when it is pressed. So when you stand the giraffe in it the tunes start. This plays four different short songs all about animals. Each tune is only about 4 lines long. The funnel at the front of the train can be pressed down. This makes it light up and play the main tune 'All aboard' This is a little longer. The train also moves along slowly when this is pressed and whilst the tune plays. My little boy was a little bit scared by the train moving at first so we were grateful for the sliding button which stops the movement. The train still sings the tune and lights up though. After a few attempts he overcame his fear! There is another yellow button on the top of the engine which plays different animal noises when pressed. This as well as the songs triggered by the tray runs in sequence so can become a little repetitive. There is a switch on the engine which turns the volume down or turns the sounds, lights and movement off.
-Carriage-
The second carriage is yellow with six red wheels. It has two compartments trimmed with blue and green. The bigger compartment is for the elephant and has a red bird attached with a spring. The small compartment has green monkey bars for the monkey! This has a bunch of bananas at each side which move up and down and spin around.
-Animals-
The giraffe is yellow as you would expect a giraffe to be! Its legs, neck and head all move. As you move any part it makes a clicking sound. At the bottom of each leg is a coloured foot. Each is a different colour and each has a different texture. On the legs and the neck the giraffes spots are raised to create texture. The giraffe can stand up, sit on its hind legs and sort of lie down. Its ears are suitable for chewing for teething babies too.
The elephant is blue with purple ears and tail. It has the same features on its feet and its legs move similar to the giraffe. It also has ears that spin right round and are textured. Its trunk also spins around. The elephant also makes the clicking sound.
The monkey is a much smaller animal and none of its limbs move. Its head is fixed in a cheeky sideways pose. Its tail is quite flexible and it hooks onto the monkey bars by its tail and sways back and forth.
-Playability-
As I stated earlier my little boy was a bit wary of this to start with. I initially thought it would be another toy that goes to the back of the cupboard, but I was wrong. Once he had got over his fear his face started to light up when the train moved. He is only just over a year and at the moment he plays with it as separate toys. He loves to carry the second carriage around the house by the monkey bars. He plays with each of the animals on their own. He tends to play with the engine on its own, whenever I attach the second carriage it doesn't stay attached for long! He has also grasped the concept of putting the giraffe in the engine to make the songs play. He is a bit heavy handed with this bashing it more than putting! The train and the animals all seem quite sturdy and would withstand a fair amount of battering. The animals have a surface that wipes clean of sticky fingers easily. The age stated on the product is from 6 months onwards. I would say this is about right. I think this will be played with for a while yet.
-The songs-
The all aboard song that plays with the funnel is very catchy. You find yourself singing along to it. All the songs are sung in the same very happy voice and could get irritating! Each song deals with a different concept. Different colours, sizes of animals, discovering animals and animal noises. Because they are quite short I think they would become familiar to your child fairly quickly although adults would find them repetitive as I am already.
-Amazing Animals Range-
As well as this set, you can also buy add on animals in their own push and pull cars. There is a lion and a zebra option. Each can be attached to the train or played with in their own right. Also available are a Tiger, Hippo, Panda, Pig, Kangaroo and Crocodile which each have their own features and can ride on the train. There are 5 other Amazing Animal items which I have found available which are based on a similar theme but are not related to the train. There may be other animals or items that I have not come across.
-Overall-
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. When I saw the price I did wonder whether it was good value or if we were paying for the Fisher Price name. The toy is good quality and has wonderfully bright colours. With the add ons that are available I believe this will become one of my sons favourite toys. I have already suggested some of these for his Christmas presents to relatives. The only negative thing I have to say about the train is that it could have maybe had more songs to make it a little less repetitive.
The train can be bought from Toys R Us and Argos. The other add ons are available in Woolworths and Toys R Us, but you may need to shop around to find what you want as each has some but not all of the animals.
Batteries required 3 C(LR14) These are not included.
Advantages: Helps promote a number of different skills for baby. Disadvantages: You may find yourself singing along whether you like it or not.
I bought this train for my son's first birthday. A good majority of the toys I have bought for both of my children have been from Fisher price, although they may be a little bit more expensive than other brands I am always happy to pay more as I know I am going to get quality, Fisher price are a trusted manufacturer and their range of toys are always robust colourful and long lasting. This toy is suitable for babies from 6 months upwards. It will ... ...children will love it too. It comes in a big box and it is quite heavy, it was priced at just under £30, but it looked like a fun toy and I thought it would appeal to my son. It takes 3 x C batteries for the train to operate. It is all made from plastic and is easy to wipe clean. When my son opened his present on his birthday, we had already taken it out of the box prior to wrapping so it was ready to be played with. His eyes lit up with delight ...

Advantages: Sorry Fisher Price But None Disadvantages: Just read on Very Little For Very Much
For all those that have read my toy reviews you will now know that I am an avid Fisher Price fan well my children are of course lol. (Rich I do buy them for myself really)
I have noticed that I have written about all the Fisher Price products that I have been impressed with but here I am going to balance it up a bit with my review on the Fisher Price Amazing Animal Learning Train.
I bought this for my youngest about 9 months ago for £30 as it looked ... ...Fisher Price marvel but I must say I ended up wishing I had spent the £30 elsewhere.
One taking it home and opening it up it looked like I had spent a lot on very little. The train itself was very small and certainly had a lot more box than toy and was a nightmare to get out of the clips. Once I had eventually got it out of the box and inserted the batteries 3 x C batteries (Which I had to buy separately) I let him have a good play with it. He was ...

Advantages: Tough, wipes clean Disadvantages: Batteries don't last forever
As with a lot of Fisher Price (usually quite expensive) toys my wife and I were a bit dubious about buying this toy for my son, however, we went ahead and got it and we're glad we did. My 4 kids (7, 6, 3 & 20mth) are all bonkers and love this toy to bits.
It's colourful, bright, durable, wipe clean plastic manufacturing instantly attracted the kids on Christmas Day. It's also one of the only toys at home with which my older kids will play with the ... ...it rolls along to a lovely melody about animals and their shapes and sizes, or there is a switch on the front to de-activate the motion but still play the melody.
Press the whistle and it makes animal sounds, Elephant, Monkey, Giraffe (clippety clop), Parrot, Lion and one that I haven't identified yet.
It is supplied with a trailer that connects to the train and some animals, Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey with a Parrot built onto the trailer. Still ...

Advantages: easy to understand how to activate and hence help in early play, very colourful. see longevity Disadvantages: i dont see any other than the music and the movement of the train could be longer than it is
I got this cheap at £14 in Argos, so for me it was really good value for my money. This normally retails at about £30. I was not sure at first about this toy cos my baby is really fussy and doesnt actually spend long with any toy. she loved this train. she keeps pressing the green button to set the train moving and everytime it stops she keeps going after it to press it again. she has figured how the rest of the music gets activated when u place ... ...through the day and hence i think this is totally worth it. there is still much she could do with this, which she hasnt yet. she could move the animals legs, ears etc. and when she is bigger i am hoping she would learn about each animal and collect more animals so she can play jungle or zoo with. I am hoping to buy the rest of the animals and toys in the amazing animal series of fisher price one buy one. ...

Review of Fisher-Price Amazing Animals Learning Train
Advantages: Fun Song, Motorised Action. Disadvantages: Probably won't be too engaging after about a year
This was a birthday gift that we purchased for my son's first birthday and he really loved it.
The train comes in two main part, the train and one double section trailer. Three animals are supplied with it, a tall giraffe, an elephant and a monkey. The animals fit into the train quite nicely and if requird, other animals can be bought separately... a hippo, panda and two others if I remember rightly. The train has a big green button on the front. ... ...plays and the train chugs along happily until the music ends. I have to warn you... the song, 'Hop on board.. the animal train..." is quite catchy. Thank fully the train sports a two volume button at the bottom for those times when you've really had enough of the song. Of course, smart kids work out how to turn it back on, pretty quickly. As well as the big green button, a smaller yellow one can be pressed for the occasional animal sound.
In general ...
