Fisher Price Dance Baby Dance - Classical Stacker

This was one of the very many toys my daughter received when she was born. She was obviously unable to use it at that age so it stayed on a shelf in her bedroom for over half a year. It is very bright and colourful and looked lovely in the little spot we picked out on her shelf.

The Fisher Price Classical Stacker is a more modern version of your original stacker. When I was younger me and my brother shared a simple wooden one which did no more than simply allow you to stack the coloured rings onto the pole. When I first seen this one it took me a couple of seconds to register what it was.

Its plastic in design and the holdster is yellow. Instead of original rings the stackers are in the shape of stars. There are 4 rings in total and they are all different colours and sizes. The colours are; Green, Pink, Blue and orange. There is also a star that is to be placed on the top of the pole, this completes the sequence and as you place it on the top it plays a little tune to show you have finished.

The idea of the stacker is to place the stars on the pole in the correct order from largest at the bottom to smallest at the top. There is a big difference in size so babies will be able to notice the difference in them all. My daughter started playing with this toy when she was around 7 months. It had been such a pretty decoration in her bedroom that we forgot to take it down to play with.

At first she didn't get the idea of what to do despite mummy and daddy showing her. She would simply pick up the stars as the hole was the perfect size to grab onto and shove it into her mouth. I'm guessing she thought it was a teething ring which in all fairness it does slightly resemble. She was very reluctant to even let go of her new chew toy to even attempt to put it onto the stacker. From them on, every time we got the toy out she would automatically presume she was to put the stars into her mouth.

It wasn't until she was around 12 months old and she had finally passed most of the teething stage she started to associate the toy with what it actually was. She would put the stars onto the stacker in any way she fancied, she really didn't have the patience to figure out where each one was suppose to go. She didn't play with the toy for long before she got bored and eventually it went back to the shelf it came from when she stopped playing with it all together.

The stacker is designed for babies aged 6months plus. I do think it is a good educational toy but it is just one that my daughter wasn't interested in. it's easy to clean and maintain which is handy if you have a little dribbler! After having a little look around I have came to notice it isn't a very expensive toy costing around the £10 mark. It requires 3 AA batteries and they do last a long time as the toy rarely makes a noise.

I wouldn't not recommend it, it's just my daughter didn't enjoy it very much. I definitely think if your child will enjoy it they could learn a lot from it. Not only does it develop hand eye co-ordination but it also has the potential to teach different size, how to order things and the different colours. It's not expensive so I would definitely say to try it out. If all fails at least it will look pretty in the bedroom.
