Advantages: Soothes Baby, Entertains Baby, gives busy Mummys a break, Washine Washable! Disadvantages: Batteries do not last long in the music bar, shame I couldn't use it for longer!

~~The Price and Stockists~~
This chair is currently on the market for around £40 - £45.00 which is quite pricy for a Bouncy Chair, especially as it will only last about 6 months. But ... ...daily use I had from the chair it was definitely worth it, they also hold about 50% of their value currently for resale on EBay.
Kick and Play Bouncy Chair is currently stocked in Boots (larger stores and internet), Mothercare, Babies R Us and Argos.
At first it scared my 5 week old Baby, by 7 weeks it was an essential piece of damage limitation kit!
~~About the Chair~~ Under all its glitz, it's a bouncy chair, decorated in funky blue slightly padded material, with pictures of feet, swirls and stars on it. It can be used just as a normal bouncer..but then there are the add ons……
~~Vibrating Unit, bzzzzzz~~ This was invaluable, it is a similar effect to the baby being in a car and can calm during fractious times, it was also handy if I needed to get something done, like eating dinner, Baby would sit alongside (well most times anyway) happily buzzing away in his chair! This can either be switched on or off and is powered by a big D cell battery, given the amount it was used the battery seemed to last quite a long time.
~~Detachable Toy bar~~ 3 Textured toys attached, a big sunshine in the middle with a mirror for the baby to look into (not a real one - baby safe of course), he liked that the best - poser! It also had some teethers dangling from it. Then either side there were a couple of toys that span around and rattled. The whole bar was also really easy to detach and reattach.
~~Music~~ You can either have the music constantly playing or so it interacts with the baby's feet kicking. i.e. when they move their feet a sound or bit of music plays. There are also lights on the side of the chair that light up and flash. I was worried when he was very small that this feature would not be a lot of good really because he would need to kick, but actually just a small subtle move was enough to make it activate.
The music is nursery rhymes with a modern feel, it sounds a bit like one of those polyphonic mobile phones! There are 16 of them, 10 songs and 6 sound effects. There are two volume settings, I did find if you had it on the louder setting that the batteries in this part needed replacing pretty frequently (3 AA's).
You can chose to have vibrate and the music on at the same time for maximum distraction.
Baby really enjoyed his chair, as a bouncer for playing in, playing with the toys and especially the bit where he kicked for the music to come on. It gave me a little break too!
~~Any other problems?~~ The only bit I can really fault was when he was coming up to five months, his feet started to stick over the end, although the kick pad was quite padded, the bit round the outside was not and I was so worried he would hurt his ankles. Oh and the fact that you need to stop using it when baby can sit up, or is over 9kg / 20lbs or is over 6 months of age. Only a problem because he loved it so much and I was gutted to see it go!
~~Life without the Kick and Play Chair~~ Well the chair had to go, because Baby was trying to sit up. It has been replaced with the Fisher Price Birth to Toddler chair, it has a vibrating unit on it which does help! Unfortunately it doesn't have any of the toy features otherwise I would say you would be better off buying this one in the first place.

Advantages: Multi-purpose can soothe or stimulate, machine washable cover Disadvantages: Toys on bar are a little hard to reach
I was given this as a leaving present from my work colleagues and I believe it's one of the best new baby gifts I received.
The Kick and Play Bouncer is available from most shops (such as Mothercare, John Lewis and Tesco) and online stores (such as the Baby catalogue and precious little ones) at around £39.95. This bouncer does so much. First it serves as a comfortable support for babies from newborns until they are able to sit up by themselves. ... ...eating or if you need to pop to the loo! In fact when my baby was able to sit up I was suddenly at a loss as to where to put him safely while I got on with chores or answered the door.
One of the best features of this bouncer is it's vibrating mode. Powered by a D battery (secured by a phillips screw) the chair vibrates and instantly soothes your child. Although my son didn't have colic he did suffer from bad wind and would draw his knees up to ...

Advantages: The only way to get my baby to sleep in the daytime! Disadvantages: The cost
This chair was bought for me by my work collegues when I was leaving to have my first baby. It was bought from Mothercare and cost £40, which I feel is a bit pricey for a bouncy chair and would probably not have bought it myself.
However, little did I know just how fantastic it would be and how much I would come to rely on it.
The chair is blue with swirls and feet printed on it. It is machine washable, which is really useful as I'm sure anyone ... ...and crotch strap which is easily fastened to stop baby jumping out.
The best feature as far as I'm concerned is by far the vibration mode. Just insert a D battery (not included) and flick the switch and hey presto - the chair vibrates and the baby sleeps! Genius!! The down side is that you need a screwdriver to open the bit to put the battery in which can be a bit of a pain but the batteries last really well in this part. My son is in his chair ...

Advantages: Great for popping baby in at any time of day Disadvantages: Battieries don't last long
I actually got my bouncer second hand but I would happily have paid full price for it for the amount of use I have had from it.
The chair has two musical entertainment options and one soothe option. The musical entertainment comes in the form of the arch, which can be removed to make it easier to pop baby in and out of the chair.
The music can be put onto constant play, where it cycles through several nursery tunes with accompanying flashing lights. ... ...maybe 5 or 6 times and then stops. However you'll probably find that your baby is quite fed up with them before that happens.
The other option is baby activated sounds. This is where the 'kick' part of the name comes in, as there are two pressure pads in the seat, one under each foot, which activate a variety of sounds and tunes when kicked. I found that I used the constant play option more in the first couple of months and then switched to the ...

Advantages: vibrate, versatile, varied songs and sounds easy to get baby in and out of Disadvantages: in my opinion there are no disadvantages
In my opinion the fisher price kick and play is a great baby bouncer to purchase because in my own personal experience my 6 month old baby loves it and i have been able to use it from birth. my baby has a nap eats and plays in the bouncer so you can really get your moneys worth from this product. The sound and light arch is removable allowing you to feed baby while they stay in the chair and it also viberates which can sooth the baby and help get ... ...play or you can turn it so when baby kicks the sounds and lights flash it is so easy to get baby in and out of so if you need to put baby down for 2 minute while you quickly do something it so easy. in my opinion this is a great product to purchase. ...
