This chair was bought for me by my work collegues when I was leaving to have my first baby. It was bought from Mothercare and cost £40, which I feel is a bit pricey for a bouncy chair and would probably not have bought it myself.
However, little did I know just how fantastic it would be and how much I would come to rely on it.
The chair is blue with swirls and feet printed on it. It is machine washable, which is really useful as I'm sure anyone with a baby will appreciate! It has a waist and crotch strap which is easily fastened to stop baby jumping out.
The best feature as far as I'm concerned is by far the vibration mode. Just insert a D battery (not included) and flick the switch and hey presto - the chair vibrates and the baby sleeps! Genius!! The down side is that you need a screwdriver to open the bit to put the battery in which can be a bit of a pain but the batteries last really well in this part. My son is in his chair LOADS with the vibration turned on and I've only just changed the batteries after two months.
Something to be wary of (for the not-so-bright people out there) to change the battery for the vibration part you need to unhook the fabric from the bottom of the chair. DO NOT attempt to do this whilst baby is in the chair as the baby would fall out!!
The chair also comes with a removeable activity bar which has a few settings. It can be set to continuously play songs, or set so that it plays songs or makes sounds when the baby kicks his/her legs. It is fairly sensitive so baby doesn't need to kick very hard to achieve results. There are lights on the activity bar that flash with the music. Hanging from the activity bar are three objects. One is a baby safe mirror which my son loves to stare at and the other two are plastic toys (maybe teethers?) that baby can reach for. It's probably best not to bounce the chair too hard when the activity bar is attached in case the swinging toys hit baby in the face!!
The activity bar takes 3 AA batteries (not included) which you also need a screwdriver to replace.
It is easily removed and my son loves watching the lights and kicking to make the music play. It plays about 20 different tunes and the volume has two adjustments, loud and quiet. The annoying part for me is that two of the tunes I can't think what they are and it's driving me crazy!!
Of course, everything can be switched off and the chair just used as a normal bouncy chair which is great when you just want some peace and quiet! However, if all you want is a plain old bouncy chair it's very expensive and a cheaper one would probably be better.
The one thing I would change about this chair is the backrest. I have found that (even now, but especially when he was smaller) when my son is tired or has fallen asleep in the chair his head lolls and he ends up all slouched and with his head on one side resting on his shoulder - very uncomfortable looking.
I've fixed this by using the removeable head support out of his car seat and placing it on the chair, but I feel it would be a nice touch if the chair came with it's own removeable head support.
Overall, a fantastic chair which is loved by me and my son but maybe a bit expensive.
