Advantages colourful, teaches counting

Disadvantages not very loud

I purchased this product from boots for £17 for my 23 month old son as one of many christmas gifts.
It is very colourful as it has many different coloured coins, including blue, red, yellow, orange and green. In total there are 10 coins, 2 of each colour. The coins range in different sizes and slightly different shapes (although all circles). And they all have different animals on them, including a duck, a rabbit, and a sheep.

It teaches little ones to learn about counting, colours, animals and sizes. When dropping a coin in the slot of the piggy, it counts up to ten. This was really helpful in helping my son learn his numbers. The pig also says phrases such as 'open' and 'closed' when you open/close the pig.

There are 2 settings on the pig. A musical setting and a number setting depending on which one you want. The number setting allows for counting and prases related to money ect. whilst the music setting has musical tunes, and the piggy sings, and the noise when putting a coin in the pig is a money dropping sound such as 'kerching'. In the middle of these two setting you can switch it off, which is great as you can therefore save battery wasting.

On the bottom of the pig there is also a volume setting switch. With an option of 2 volumes. One louder than the other. I find this useful as sometimes when us mums have a headache we can just switch the toys onto a quiter sound or if there are guests around. However I actually feel that the volume could be a little louder as even on the louder setting it isnt very loud at all. This is a down point as when the piggy counts you have to listen really carefully to hear the numbers and if the room is noisey then it is much harder to hear.

Overall I would recommend this toy as it does teach some good skills such as hand eye co ordination as my son learnt how to put the coins in the little slot. Also my son has learnt the whole concept of 'money' and 'saving' in the 'piggy bank'. Which I think is great! As he also has a proper piggy bank where he can put real money in.

For £17 I think this toy is worth it! & It would probaly suit from 9 months +. I say 9 months + because the toy is made of hard plastic so maybe a younger baby may get hurt by the pig if they are not steady enough.
This toy will keep you baby/ toddler amused!
