My 2 year old son got lots and lots of presents for Christmas and one of those presents was a Sporatcus action figure. He loves Lazytown and was very taken with the figure. My sister bought it for him, I hadn't seen the action figures before. I have since found them on Amazon for approximately £14.50, I have so far only found the Stephanie figure (which is a little cheaper) and the Sportacus figure no Robbie Rotten. So if any one reading this knows where I could get a Robbie Rotten figure I would be very interested. My son loves to be scared of Robbie Rotten, who is the villan of Lazy town.
For those of you who have no idea about Lazy town and wonder what I have been talking about let me explain.
What is Lazytown?
We if you haven't already guessed it is a kids TV program it is on CBeebies as well as Nick Jnr. The program is set in a place that is called Lazy Town. It is all about the adventures of a group of children and there friend Sportacus. (who is an adult character). The villain in the program is as mentioned above Robbie Rotten.
The characters are a mixture of people and puppet characters. The 3 main characters Stephanie, Sportacus and Robbie Rotten are all people and the rest of the characters are all puppets.
The Children: The central child character as mention before is called Stephanie, she is an 8 year old girl. Stephanie is always dressed in pink, normally a dress and pink trainers. Her hair is also a bright pink bob, with fringe. 'Stephanie is new I in town', she comes to stay with her uncle who is the Mayor of Lazy Town and a puppet, very weird I know but my son loves it. The other children are all puppets, Ziggy is a small blond boy, who loves sweets and lollipops and is Stephanie's first friend in Lazy Town. The other three children are all around 8 years old and are : Stingy a male child who is as the name suggests, greedy and loves presents. Trixie a puppet girl, Pixel, another male puppet character who is a computer nerd and always inventing things. The Adults: There is the Mayor, who is Stephanie's Uncle, Bessy the object of the mayors affections. Sportacus is the town's hero and star of the show. Sportacus lives above the city in his space ship, yep that's right his space ship. I have only just realised how weird this program is now I'm writing about it, but my son thinks it's great. Maybe I should be worried. Sportacus is always dressed in a tight blue outfit and little blue cap. Sportacus is healthy and fit loves sport and only eats fruit and vegetables. He calls fruit sports candy. The message they are trying to get to the kids is pretty easy to see, eat your fruit and veg and grow up big and strong and good like Sportacus, or eat junk food and be lazy and end up like the shows villain Robbie Rotten. Robbie Rotten, feasts on sweets and cakes and is always trying to get rid of Sportacus to make Lazy Town, exactly that a lazy town full of junk food.
The Sportacus Action Figure:
The action figure is made by fisher price it comes along with a back pack and Skateboard. It is dressed just as Sportacus is on the show in his trademark tight blue outfit. The figure stands about 8 ¾ inches. It has a button in the middle of his chest and when pressed the figure moves out it's arms and legs and says one of the following phrases: "My name is Sportacus!" "You can do it!" "Someone's in trouble!" "Let's go!" "Time for action!" "That's what I call energy!"
In order for this function to work 3 LR44 batteries are required. It actually came fitted with them so there was no disappointment on Christmas day. The arms and legs are bendable. It does little else. When his feet are placed in the skate board it will stand up easily , however if you the press the button for him to speak and move his legs it won't work as the skate board stops his legs moving. So the button can not be used when in the skateboard. The recommend age is 3 years onwards but at 2 years my son has had no problems with it and can easily play with it. It seems to be fairly robust. We haven't broken it yet and it has been played with every day since Christmas. A great toy if your kids love Lazy town.
Advantages: Keeps my little girl entertained because she loves the character on tv. Disadvantages: Doesn't do a great deal, not great value for money.
My daughter is a massive fan of LazyTown (amongst other things!) and had had this little figure set bought for her by her Auntie one day and she absolutely loves it. For a toy that's fairly small, she manages to play with it for ages.
It doesn't do that much really, you press the button on Stephanies chest and her legs and arms spread out and she says some phrases.
She comes with two accessories, a little plastic stereo and a loudspeaker, both of which are easily lost as they are quite small.
However, my daughter is the one that plays with it and if she loves it enough to play with it for ages with it then it can't be that bad!! ...
