Advantages: The kids look very cute when in costume. Disadvantages: Bit pricey!
On our recent trip to Chapel St Leonard's we, (myself and my husband), decided to help our children on their way to spending the copious amounts of money they seem to have accumulated.
(My kids have this amazing trick of making their money last them twice as long as the money lasts for anyone else, I keep trying to get them to do the weekly shop for me but they are having none of it!)
After getting up to Wednesday with Saturday ... ...single penny of their spending money had actually been spent, we frog marched them to the Skegness branch of Woolworths to spend a little!
The first thing that caught my son's eye was the one thing he'd been asking for, for quite sometime, but I had been refusing saying how it was a waste of money, unfortunately I had no choice this time, hence the review I will now write!

After getting up to Wednesday with Saturday being the last day of our holiday, and not a single penny of their spending money had actually been spent, we frog marched them to the Skegness branch of Woolworths to spend a little!
The first thing that caught my son's eye was the one thing he'd been asking for, for quite sometime, but I had been refusing saying how it was a waste of money, unfortunately I had no choice this time, hence the review I will now write!
The product I will review is the "Sportacus fancy dress costume".
For anyone not familiar with this name thank your lucky stars! The afore mentioned character is from the hit children's tv show "Lazytown", this is truly bizarre programme where out of all the characters in the programme only three of the characters are actually human, the rest are played by extremely disturbing looking rubber puppets! The programme is written by the man who plays Sportacus, hence the reason he is the main character!
Firstly may I say how big the box is considering the contents, the box has a clear front to it displaying the entire costume, there is a "Sportacus" cardboard head and face, to which is attached the hat, the blue glasses, the waistcoat and belt badge. Under the "head" part is a sheet of sticky moustaches as worn by the afore mentioned character.
Upon opening the box you will soon come to realise how bloody difficult it is to remove the costume! Every piece of clothing is attached to the box with plastic clothing tags, then sell taped through the back of the box with larger plastic tabs! It took me in total almost 20 minutes just to remove the costume from the box and then in turn from the tags!
Once removed you will find that the only interactive part of the costume is the large plastic panel that sits on the chest on the waistcoat. This takes two AA batteries which are very easy to install, just pull off the back and insert! There are two different modes of play, music play which does exactly what it sounds like it would do, playing the theme tunes from the tv programme, then the second mode of play is the motion sensor, which triggers off and plays Sportacus phrases and songs when you move about wearing the costume.
Also included are soft rubber wrist plates, a pair of blue thick rimmed plastic glasses, a hat in the matching material to the waistcoat, which may I add is cheap, itchy and nasty velour type material! There is a plastic Sportacus belt badge and the sheet of moustache stickers, which stick to almost everything, apart from the top lip!!
At the original price I felt this set was extortionate, it was first priced at £24.99, coming down soon after to £19.99. We managed to purchase the set from Woolworths for the sum f £12.99, still not a really bargain price, but compare it to the costumes I have bought for my daughter it works out around the same price.
Would I recommend it…….. As much as I thought it was a bit pricey the thought completely disappeared upon seeing my three year old dressed as his hero, complete with spiky moustache, even it was on his chin, very cute!!
Also available as costumes are the two other "human" actors from the show, Stephanie and Robbie Rotten, both quite over priced but funny to see the kids dressed up as them, especially Robbie, due to the over the top bouffant Elvis wig that comes with the costume!

Advantages: Great Fun For Little Ones Disadvantages: Expensive
Any parent that know about Lazy Town a programme on the CBeebies channel will know what I mean when I say that the kid's love it and all want to be either Sportacus or Stephanie and for anyone that is not sure what Lazy Town is here's a quick description before I go on and review the product itself.
Lazy Town started on the BBC kid's channels about 2 years ago and it's a very cleverly designed programme that encourages kid's to get active and exercise ... ...the years. I would say that the programme is for children aged between 1-8 years but even my teens get caught watching along with their baby brothers.
Based in a Town called yes you guessed it Lazy you have Sportacus, Stephanie, Ziggy, Stingey, Pixel, Trixie, Mayor and Bessie but let's not forget the arch villain Robbie Rotten.
Robbie Rotten is always up to no good trying to get peace and quiet and get rid of Sportacus forever as he keep's Lazy ...
