My nearly-two year old daughter had her first experience of Fisher Prices' Little People range when she was nine months old, in the form of the Train.

This came with three animals (tiger, parrot and giraffe) plus the driver dressed as a game/zoo keeper. It plays a tune when you push the driver down in her seat. One of the sides flips down, the tiger and parrot are on a see-saw, and the giraffe spins round when pushed. She had great fun with this, and still returns to it now at almost two to play at letting the animals on and off.

She had Noah's Ark bought for her first birthday, and again it has provided her with hours of enjoyment over the year. The Ark comes with a removable roof, and contains several sets of animals (it now comes with three extra pairs of animals then we got!), Noah, his wife, and two crates of provisions. Two toucans and a flag can be positionsed on the roof, which has a shelter with an opening door. The actual boat part of the ark has windows and an opening ramp to let the animals in and out.

Finally, recently my daughter was given the aeroplane by a friend having a clear out. I don't know if there is a more up to date version, but this one comes with a 'fuel car' with a hose to put fuel into the aeroplane, the piolet, flight attendant and passengers. There is an opening door, and the propellors spin round.

In all, these three items have kept my daughter happily entertained for over a year. She will often choose to play with them by herself, or with input from mum or dad.

The great thing about Little People is that you can build up a collection where the people and animals can be interchanged to provide further interesting play. In a way they are also educational, as they can introduce children to real-life situations, such as going on a plain or train, plus animals sounds etc (on the farm).

Overall, I would highly recommend Little People as a well made and long lasting toy for both boys and girls. Needless to say, my daughter will be getting more for her birthday or Christmas!!
