Haven’t we all played Dr’s and Nurses?
I bought Sleepydormouse my daughter a fisher price medical kit when she was very young 24 yrs ago or so when she outgrew it I gave it to my school for the children to play with. The set is still in fair condition. I only played with it yesterday so was reminded of its value.
I just looked on the web and found toycentre.com selling it ... ...contains a thermometer, a “working stethoscope a syringe a blood pressure cuff a wrist bandage ,an otoscope”
The set now on sale seems to have altered little from the one I bought over 20 years ago the bag it comes in has changed instead of a rigid grey case it now comes in a rigid blue case with a picture of a Dr on it.
This toy is excellent for pretend play the equipment is very realistic.

This toy is an excellent aid to imaginary play. I like to think of this kind of play as preparation for real life. If you watch, listen to your child playing imaginary games you can hear them reliving their real experiences and practicing what would happen if, they are preparing themselves for the real event.
All children at sometime in their life have to have injections I know a lot of children are nervous because they do not know what is going to happen. If I know the children in my class are due for injections I get the medical kit out we play Dr’s and nurses. Some children are the patients they have to wait for the DR and then another child pretends to be DR and gives injections
If I know a child has to go into hospital we play hospitals make up a bed. Use the play stethoscope and go through experiences they might have in hospital. Children bandage each other and me, I often have to be the first patient they love giving me injections and bandaging me up or alternatively I use teddy as the patient. Of course everyone gets better and goes home with mummy and daddy.
The medical kit makes this play seem real and the pride on children walking around with the medical kit saying I am going to be a doctor is lovely. What I thought very cute was a long time ago a certain young girl I know was playing with a friend. She was lying on a bed he was pulling up her jumper and he took her teddy out. She was giving birth to a teddy bear her friend was the doctor. Lots of our friends had babies at that time and she often went around pregnant with teddy stuffed up her jumper.
The fisher price medical kit is certainly one I would recommend and it is certainly very strong having this one been use for about 20 years now. I would think it suitable for children aged between 3 and 7 Thanks for reading enjoy playing with your children . Doctors and nurses.

Children love to play Dr's and Nurses.
My grandson aged 3 is just beginning to fill his life filled with visits to the Dr. His mum is just about to have a baby.
Being ill, having a jab or just going for a check up can be scary. As adults we all feel a little nervous ourselves, but for a child experiencing these things for the first time could be terrifying.
I am a qualified nursery nurse and realise how important imaginary role-play is, acting out the situation makes the real one a little less scary. So I feel a medicalkit is always a good toy to have.
When my daughter was little she had a fisherpricemedicalkit it was very good and lasted a long time in fact my school still has it, it is about 25 yrs old and in fairish condition.
