Review of "Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo"
Where can I possibly start with the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo? Should I start with it's value for money, it's educational pro's, it's enjoyment levels or it's ability to give mummy a level of freedom back? This new baby toy is invaluable and I recommend it to everyone and rate it at a full fat 5 stars!
The jumperoo wasn't something I even thought about until my son was about 8 weeks old. He's always been miles ahead development wise so although still tiny he was on the cusp of needed more stimulation than soft toys could provide. I had seen the Jumperoo's around and in true new mummy style I looked it up, read a few reviews and quickly decided to give it go. That was the easy part! Getting hold of one was more challenging! Trying all the top retailers everywhere appeared to be sold out which was frustrating but finally after a week of trying we bought one for the very reasonable price of £80. (The retail between £70 and £90 depending on delivery costs). It arrived two days later and I couldn't have found it easier to put up! We are a bit backwards in this house when it comes to assembly-my partner is hands off and me, the lady of the house is left to it! So I was pleasently suprised to find a very thorough instruction manual that guided me through an even more simple 5 minute assembly and voila! One Jumperoo! 5 Stars for ease of assembly!
Colourful, fun, danger free and foldable too for storage. Even better in real life than the pictures! It comes with a 360 degrees rotating seat with detachable, washable cover with cute googly bug eyes and a seat back rest for those early stages when they still need a lot of support. It has two adjustable hanging animals which gives the child something to reach for while bouncing, which in true Rainforest style are just as vibrant as the rest of the Jumperoo. There is an arcchway attached to the sitting tray which features a spinning ball with smiling sunshine inside and pop up toy underneath. There is also a rotating lizard filled ball filled with noise making coloured balls which when turned gives amusement through sound-perfect for the sensory development side of things. There is a hanging butterfly (perfect for chewing) and last but not least the second archway with hanging animals, flashing lights (when batteries are inserted underneath) and two music settings with volume control for parents. So all in all when your little one is sitting in the jumperoo if he/she chooses not to bounce there is still lots to do! The seat rotation provides access to each toy.
At first my little boy was far from touching the floor to bounce so we would sit him in it to look round briefly and by 3.5 months he was enjoying the experience enough to be content for longer spells. As the weeks passed and he could slowly begin to bounce and turn the chair himself-then the fun really began! He would bounce for HOURS! Well not house but would sit in the Jumperoo happily for hours at a time with some encouragement. He loved controlling his actions when he still couldn't quite roll or crawl and gave him some independance which he cherished and the excitement on his face is something you can't forget! He would sit in this in the garden, in the house and even if he wasn't in a bouncing mood (which was rare-the temptation to bounce is hard to resist!) he would play with the toys while mummy got some much needed housework done etc! Having this meant I could get my jobs done, and gave me my first levels of freedom back since becoming Chloe the mummy which I am forever greatful for!
My son is now 11 months old and now crawls, practically walks and is far from the little baby I have so many photographs of in his Jumperoo! However he still likes a little bounce once a day and that same old smile returns and is truly a priceless moment. Thanks to it's ability to alter the cord length we have been able to cater for my sons growth by adjusting the height. Realistically though I doubt he will be interested in this much longer because now he has found his feet he's too interested in being mobile but the Jumperoo is a huge reason why because it gave him such strength in his legs at an early stage!
The jumperoo has a special place in my heart and features in some of mine and my son's most cherished memories from his first year. I toyed with the idea of giving it to afriend who is expecting but I can't bring myself to part with it! Instead I am keeping it for my next child because this item is truly top of my list!
