My son first started collecting Rescue Heroes when he was three years old. The large, sturdy figures were perfect for his small hands. Accessories were easy for him to manipulate. And everything was built to withstand his tough play.
What's great about Rescue Heroes?
Rescue Heroes offers a wide range of toys, from action figures to vehicles, from command centers to videos. Everything is built with a typical preschooler in mind. Figures are big and chunky with large feet so they can stand on their own. Vehicles, including snow mobiles, water crafts, and helicopters are large enough that the figures fit easily into them, and sturdy enough to be played with without worry of them falling apart.
One of my sons favorites was the Rescue Hero firetruck, with siren and a turret that could shoot pretend water. The turret was easy to load, aim and fire. And the durable truck held up well to heavy play and was in great condition even after two years of great use.
One thing I love about Rescue Heroes is that they remind us that heroes can be everyday people in everyday jobs. People that we see in our own communities when we are out and about. Batman, Superman and Buzz Lightyear are all fine superheroes for my son to adore. But I also think its great that when he thinks of heroes, firemen, police men, and paramedics also come to mind.
What is not so great about Rescue Heroes?
Perhaps the one real drawback with collecting Rescue Hero toys, is one of the very things that makes them such a good toy for preschool age children -- the size. This is especially true of many of the vehicles and command centers. They are large and rather awkward to store, and can take up quite a bit of room in the closet. For anyone with limited storage, this is something to consider.
Another drawback we experienced was that though my son loved Rescue Heroes when he was three, four and five, by the time he was six he had completely outgrown them, and were garage sale fodder by the time he was seven. But that is true with many toys designed for younger children, and I do not regret buying them.
The final verdict?
Rescue Heroes are great toys for the rough and tumble ways of the preschooler. Moderately priced, sturdy and well built, with a diverse product line giving comsumers a good choice of products to buy. I definitely recommend Rescue Heroes to anyone whose child would delight in saving the world from the next natural disaster.
Advantages: no small parts, colourful, hours of fun at a time Disadvantages: heavy, there are so many to collect that it could work out expesive
...they wear american looking uniforms. Fisher price also make spider man figures the same. These are my sons favourite, as he is spiderman mad. Especially the one that squirts water.
My son gets bored quickly and is never still or quiet unless playing with his rescue heroes. He also has a tower with a sliding poll. Great fun. you can also recod messages and it plays 3 different siren noises. There are 3 levels to this tower, it stands 22 " high. Each ... ...on the tower as a friend gave it to my son, it was her sons. I have trid to find out but had no luck. You can also get transport for them ranging from 12.99 to 19.99. We only have a spidermen motor bike which cost 19.99 with figure.
AGE SUITABILITY
My son was only just 2, and the packaging said age 3+. I wasn't sure wether to buy one. After much uming and aring I decided to, as he had stopped putting things in his mouth. There are no small parts ...

Advantages: quality and interest Disadvantages: could get costly, too many to buy!
...I don't normally look at Fisher Price now that he is getting older. I just associated Fisher Price with his baby toys!
The Command Centre is approx 2.5 feet high with two upper levels, roof, a side pole (lift) and loads of other interesting bits; you can even record a message which playsback. The characters each have a backpack which is removable and pertaining to their job. Some of the figures we have are Billy Blazes who shoots water canons; Captain ... ...line; Willy Stop who when you move a switch has warning lights pop up and flashes his badge.
We only have one vehicle at the moment which is the Jet. It is very easy to assemble and the way that it is done means that if any piece gets pulled off, like a wing or the windshield, it can just be put back on and nothing has been broken. All the bits just click into place. The Jet is great as it has wheels and a handle which comes down which makes it ...
