Top rod
Review of Daiwa longbow carp rod by richchappy

Advantages: Great value, Slim design, high quality fittings
Disadvantages: None

Holding this rod in your hand you could really think you were holding a rod worth well over £200, and when you find it is less than £100 you realise what a great value bit of kit this really is. A super slim blank makes the rod look great and understated markings really make it feel like a custom built rod. I use the 3lb tc model and it really is a superb all rounder, the rod really can cast, hitting 100 yards with ease and going well over that ...
...is not too stiff so you suffer hook pulls. It is finished to a very high quality, with full fuji rings, with a well proportioned 40mm butt ring, couple this with a FUJI DNPS reel seat, you can tell it is a quality piece of kit, worth well over its price tag. Add to this a really neat butt cap with a slim butt section. A handy 12" marker on the rod and you can really tell how much thought has gone into the production of this mid market rod, If ... Can they go the distance?
Review of Fox warrior xt carp rods by richchappy

Advantages: Good price, nice to play fish on, good name
Disadvantages: Cant cast long distances

Having looked at a few rods around this price range, i was very interested in these, they looked good quality and and had the name to go with it. I got them home and chucked on my reels and they seemed to balance up fairly nicely. I got them to the bank and being a small lake i just chucked them out about 40 yards, and they were lovely, getting a fish on they were very nice to play fish on even being 3lb tc. The only problem i have found is distance ... Read review

PERFECTION
Review of E.S.P. terry hearn carp rod by richchappy

Advantages: The best fish playing rod out there
Disadvantages: Struggles with real long range stuff

The best rod out there. In my opinion anyway, there are way to many rods designed for punching leads to the horizon that are like a broom when playing a fish and often results in hook pulls. Not good when getting takes in the first place is hard enough. But this rod is really perfection, the tip is soft enough so you can enjoy the fight and not pull the hooks, but in the butt section is plenty of power in reserve so when needed you know its there. ...
...around the 100 yard mark without too much hassle and im not the best caster in the world. These really allow you to enjoy your fishing, i have landed all sorts on these. From little 6 pound wild carp to 30 plus whackers, I love them... Apart from these, the overall finish is awsome, the high quality fuji rings, and super sexy full duplon butt section. Minimal graphics and a neat line clip make it look and feel like a custom made rod worth over ... Read review

Zensorflex carp rods
Review of Svendsen Sports zensorflex carp rod by richchappy

Advantages: Cheap, do the job
Disadvantages: Not the best but what do you expect

This rod is what i would class as a budget rod, they money you pay for it, around the £20 mark, you are not expecting anything amazing. But really for the money you cant complain. It has enough back bone to cast leads and feeders, and also its soft enough to be able to play a fish on unlike some of the broom sticks that you can buy with products of a simalar price range. There are a few faults, like really chunky rod rings and linings, the blank ... Read review

Fox Warrior
Review of Fox warrior xt carp rods by whitby_qpr

Advantages: Cheap and very effective
Disadvantages: none

...such as fox. Having brought fox products before I have never been disappointed by the quality so when I realised fox where producing such a cheap rod I felt I had to try it. To be honest it was so inexpensive that I doubted it at first when I definitely shouldn't of but now I have it I have caught many carp on it the biggest being 36lb. It handles all fish exceptionally well as absorbs most of the pressure so you don't have to. Casting wise again ... Read review
